What chemicals do you use with your extractor?

Pre spray your chems such as chemspec enz-all allow to dwell 10 minutes or so agitate(brush) then rinse with prochem's all fiber rinse along with some defoamer in solution tank!

Got the chance to use Mytee lite ii with VX5000 today and was really happy with results. Used very diluted APC+ and brush. Steamed first then extracted.

Some before and afters.

I use a Mytee Tempo. I directly spray the cleaners (Folex, Sonax, or Mothers) onto the carpet and then use hot water in the extractor.

Does the defoamer go in the waste tank or do you spray it on the carpets? I'd imaging carpets but I thought I've heard the tank.

You can put a little defoamer in with the solution and some in the waste water tank for best results. Some people just put defoamer in the waste water tank. Might need to try both ways to see which is necessary depending on the solution mixture you are using.

Where do you get these defoamers?

Do you have problem foaming up? I looked into my waste tank and there wasn't any foam. But I diluted the heck out of my APC+.

With Folex did you need to dilute it? Did it cause foaming in waste tank?

I have used megs APC at high strength and low. I don't put anything in the tank other than H20. I have had foam when extracting and it starts to blow it out of the blower motor. If this starts happening, I just drain the tank more often to keep the foam and water level to a minimum. I use my extractor A LOT and have never had a problem (knock on wood). The biggest prob with extractors, especailly Mytee, is the pump staying on due to being clogged with dirt or calcium. You need to run the pump dry after your done then bleed whats left in the line. Since I have been doing this I have had way better water flow and no problems.

I know Durrimaid says it voids the warranty if anything other than water is used in the tank. Mytee I'm sure is the same. Just make sure you flush your clean tank after your put anything in it. There really is no point in running anything other than water, you should be pre treating and scrubbing and you want to get all the soap and junk out of the carpet, not put more soap in, which will attract more dirt.

Usually places that rent out Rug Doctors and stuff will have defoamers. Some hardware stores might have them in stock or available to order as well.

Thanks! I remember there was a local place who sells janitor stuff, going see if they got any there.

You just described a problem I've noticed with my new Mytee after about 6 uses. Many thanks! Any idea how to clean it out? AG doesn't sell the Mytee system maintainer. I'm hesitant to try homebrews like vinegar or (gasp) Lime Away.

My Mytee instruction manual says it's OK "Fill the tank with the approved cleaning solution. . . ."

:iagree: Good advice.

Great advice!! Is it safe to leave the clean water in the tank? Or do I need to flush it out every time?
