Review: Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection

is this better than black fire wet diamond ?

Hmmm, base on look and feel....yes. And it is $8 cheaper

I suspect the durability may be shorter. It's not scientific or anything but it take twice as long cleaning the pad after using BFWD. The BFWD stick to the pad and have a lot of hydrophobicity that i have a difficult time cleaning it w/ BF pad cleaner. So base on my pad cleaning experience, i think BFWD will last longer

Most excellent review Corey! It almost makes me want to try this sealant again!

I KNOW MAN!!! I know pictures don't do that kind of perfection justice! Man I wish I could visit him up there and see that beauty in person!!

In your review of UPP you mention that the product meet with all of the manufacturers claims.
How did you evaluate the claim that it protects against UV ?

I just applied UPP to a panel last night and it looked great.. In fact I am questioning if I need to use Soveregn anymore? I only use Soveregn for the look and beauty on my black car as was wondering if topping with Sovergn will look more liquid than just the UPP?

Lastly, no matter what I do I cannot wash my car without significant waterspots remaining. Therefore I aways spray something on it when after I dry it just to eliminate the waterspots. Crystal mist, spray Sovergn as examples.
What would be the preferred product to use for that purpose if I just used UPP as my LSP ?

Thanks for any reply...

When I use UPP, which is often, you can use their spray wax as a booster and wipe product. You can also use the Blackfire Polymer Spray with nice results. Infact I have used many without issue but prefer the two listed above.

Would you use those rather than Soveregn?

I love Souveran Paste over UPP for shows and my garage queen. For the daily driver I try to use a sealant only since its outside 24/7 in South Florida. With the polymer sprays used weekly after washing I get many months before needing to redo the UPP. My daily driver is silver however so not a completely fair assessment.

I'm thinking 4 Star Spray wax over the top but honestly all of the above look good. However, I will say Pinnacle doesn't sheet water nearly as fast as the rest.

Scott has been using UPP a long time also and always gives great advice. :props:

Good point on the UV... I guess I didn't do much to specifically test that. Sorry! maybe next time I'll come up with something nifty for a test on that part. I have an idea actually Im the MAN

I agree! Forget about Blackfire Wet Diamond when you have this in your arsenal! Four Star UPP!!

However I also agree if durability is what your after use a coating or if you want more durability from a sealant add multiple coats of this (only need 6 hours between) or multiple coats of UPGP (45 minutes minimum in between) or use Menzerna Power Lock (even 1 coat) is tough as hell.

Corey, just put UPP on my son's truck. Wow! what a great product to use. For a spray wax as a booster, I have a Gal of Opt Car Wax, how would this compare to 4Star spray? or should I stay within the same family of products?

Thanks,
Larry

Awesome Larry!!! I'm so excited to hear you love it! No, Optimum is a wonderful spray wax that I have the better part of a gallon of. Very durable for a spray wax!! It can be a bit finicky sometimes but just play with it and you'll get the hang quick. If you have it on hand go for it and see what you think of the combo. Honestly combining lines both in the organic family is rarely an issue in my experience.

Isn't Ultima UPGP the same thing as Four Star UPP? Only difference is that UPGP is a WOWA whereas UPP needs to be buffed off/removed. That makes UPP redundant as UPGP does the same with less work. Or have I got it wrong?

Completely different products, completely different chemical makeup and application, and different look.

You could compare BFWD to 4* UPP much much much easier than UPGP.

Thanks CEE DOG. Is there a comparison anywhere on AG that I can read? Your reviews are top notch and I am hoping that you would have reviewed both these lovely products.

Thank you so much supernaut. I appreciate the kind words! There isn't a comparison I'm afraid but I should have something about UPGP. One sec ill paste it here.

Thanks CEE DOG. I have read those a long time ago and enjoyed them thoroughly. Right now, I am trying to find out what exactly is the difference between the two - which one looks more like a wax/hybrid compared to the other that may look like a selant. If possible, what chemicals are in there.

Appreciate the help though, thanks again.

Sure thing,

UPGP offers a SUPER glossy hard candy shell look. Especially after a couple layers :)

4* UPP offers deep wet look similar to a wax.

UPGP is powered by polycharger and its contents is answered well in the article I linked.

4*UPP is a sealant as well but very different contents and actually contains a small amount of Carnauba wax.

Corey - I can't tell you how helpful your response is. That is exactly the information I was looking for. I don't mind an additional step of removal but I prefer the deeper and warmer look of a hybrid sealant. I have used DG 105 and I guess that is an organic/hybrid sealant, very good looking.

I will pick up some UPP and try it soon to see it for myself. However, AG mentions both as "Polycharged" but I think UPGP has some sort of flash cure accelerator additive like Zaino ZFX added to it, that allows it to cure in 45 minutes while UPP takes 12 hours I guess.
