Hello from Hatfield, PA- my name is James, I am 25 years old and work as a driver/courier, and I love detailing! I recently bought, cleaned up then sold a '99 Camry to make a few bucks on the side. I plan to try to do it again because it was a lot of fun. I couldn't get enough of the oxidation off the single stage white paint with my Griot's DA & Megs UC :-( but the buyer seemed happy anyway. I was able to get the seats to look less disgusting;

I am currently researching ways to get more out of this Griot's DA. I was thinking about getting some Lake Country Pads and Optimum Sprays (heard some weird things about XMT & Megs105/205) from AG. I really want a rotary but don't have the extra dough right now.

My next attempt is going to be this "Arctic White" 1998 Pontiac Firebird Convertible that I just bought off eBay. I know little about it, and can't wait to see it's condition in person; it's being shipped from Cape Coral, FL, if the transport co. ever picks it up!

Well that's me in a nutshell, I look forward to many more late nights reading on here, but now as an official member!

Welcome to AG from Reading PA. Have you ever seen the show Wheeler Dealers on Velocity or Discovery. They buy, fix, and flip cars. Real fun and a good learning experience to watch. When I was younger I drove for a courier service. Got to your area a lot. Also did a nightly run to the banks in Philly from 11pm till 3:30 am, that was interesting.

Welcome to AG!

I unfortunately have not seen it yet, sounds like a program I would be interested in though, I'll have to look for it.

That's neat you were a courier too; that is the exact type of stuff we do like bank routes etc. I work the overnight shift, driving throughout Philly area and to the Leigh Valley, Poconocs, DE, MD, NJ, etc. I like the freedom and it pays decent, but it does destroy cars.

Welcome to AG!

Welcome from Tamaqua, Pa. Drive through Hatfield a lot, as step daughter goes to Bryn Athyn college.

When I did it I ran checks from the Lancaster banks to the big processing centers in Chester, Downtown Philly, and the Federal Reserve. With less and less checks written I'm sure some of those people lost their jobs. The freedom was good on the graveyard shift no one to bother me. But I packed on weight when I did it, eating and drinking to stay awake! I also ran other runs for them. Got caught in a flash flood around midnight and had to be rescued, water came up to dashboard level on the Escort I was driving. The quick cooling on a hot engine blew a hole in the block! I did it all back then to make $$$. I did quick turn around detailing for Enterprise car rental too.

:welcome:to AUTOGEEK from Phila,Pa

Welcome from Bensalem Pa.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes folks. Seems to be lots of people here from PA.

Thank you sir. Yea you must pass us on the turnpike when your coming down. Hopefully she lives on campus because that would be a hell of a commute. Easy drive though probably.

The stuff we do for money! Sucks about the Escort;
I too have forged through a couple big puddles during Irene last year, but luckily made it through all of them. This job doesn't stop for rain or weather. If it weren't for satalite radio and cigarettes I don't think I could do this job, gets lonely out there on the open road sometimes haha.

I personally haven't done a lot of bank stuff yet. I mostly deliver medicine to a bunch of nursing homes within a 150mi radius that this pharmacy in Hatfield supplies.

Other than that I mostly just do specimen and blood transportation, and the occasional random helicopter part or important computer chip or document. I've been there a year now, made out good with taxes the other week (didn't pay a cent because of that mileage deduction), so as long as I have a car that can take it, I'll continue doing it until I can find better. I have a bachelors in business from Penn State, but it was really hard finding a job after I graduated in Dec. '09. I was a manager at a car wash making very little before this.

I live outside Reading now but at one time for about a year my wife and I lived in Aston. And I'm originally from Coal Country. Certainly familiar with Tamaqua. Welcome again.

the show Wheeler Dealers on Velocity

i love that show. there is a lot of scripting with the sales and stuff skipped in the interest of time but overall it's very interesting. Mike and Edd are entertaining people as well.
