How many of you do this and would it be ok to just do it one time?

Low heat or air only. Usually takes 2 drying cycles. I read this in another post recently. I've done it and all seems fine.

I toss them in the dryer on low heat all the time. I use 20 minute blocks of time to get them to near-dry,and then air them out to finish the process.

I do mine on medium and have not had a problem.

I always use low heat. I don't have the space to air dry my towels every time I wash them.

I've never had an issue with drying them in the dryer.

Mine have never been dried any other way. Even the towels that are approaching ten years old are still just fine. They aren't in their prime but haven't suffered any damage from the washer & dryer.

Low heat, about 59 min. not bone dry.

I do it all the time. Use the low heat setting and toss them in....:props:

I have no idea what heat setting I use on the dryer. I just toss them in and turn it on. They seem to come out just fine.

My dryer unfortunately does not have a high or low heat setting so i toss them in on the default "high" setting and leave them in there for about 25 minutes. I always take them out when they're about 80% dry and take them out, pile them on my bed and let them dry for about an hour and theyre ready to use again.

Been using medium heat for years, but since Setec Astronomy said he uses high heat, I have switched to high. This guy has been around the block a few times and I trust his judgement.

I use medium heat and I have no idea how long, just do it till they seem pretty dry.

I do have a question, regarding this question.

What damage are we supposed to be trying to avoid here? Do they burn up? shrink? become brittle? start to scratch?..... How do I know when my towels are no good?

I have no idea...I don't know where these urban legends start. On another forum years ago we had a textile expert (who turned out to be a jerk but that's another story...are you out there, Leo?) who just laughed and laughed at this, told us that you would have to get the MF up to like 500°F to damage it, and if your dryer could get that hot your cotton clothes would be up in flames, etc.

Once again, I have an electric dryer, and I have NEVER dried my MF's on anything but the highest setting, and I have NEVER had any damage, other than my cheapest Wal-Mart throw-away MF's have puckered a little, but I think that would have happened no matter what. All my good MF's are absolutley fine.

I put my dryer on the delicate cycle they come out warm to room temp.. but not as warm as clothes on the regular cycle. Detail shops Ive worked at just put them on regular...but then again they wash and dry all there towels together :/
