Can this be removed?

Is that oxidation or clear coat failure?

Looks like CC failure to me, but it's kind of hard to tell. How old is this "loaner" car?

Looks like SS to me and wax residue. Try spritzing the pad with water

What are those black lines? What kinda car is this, a 74 Econoline?

The lines are tape marks, its a Chevy S10 and im not sure the age but its no eye looker. and has been neglected for some time now. Can it be the first stages of CC Failure? here are some closer pics

im going back and work on it with some more downward pressure and m105 with a orange pad i will update in a bit

Looks like a $75 detailer got ahold of it to me. Looks like loads of wax residue. Give it an APC wash and see what happens

That thing is a mess thats for sure

APC at 4-1 didn't do anything at all

no its my brothers and i just ask if i could test some products out on his car as its very neglected. he wont get mad if i make a mistake or anything.

Oh good! Now we can have fun!!

I'd say that is definitely clear coat failure. You can even see clear coat fracturing where the light is shining on the paint in that one photo. I'm going to say no, it can't be removed by buffing.

:xyxthumbs:That's some really shiny CC failure. Hey it's good practice for sure.:dblthumb2:

ROFL. I was going to say in some of the earlier pics it almost looks better where the tape was covering the paint.

I've fought this battle before. It ended with a $4.99 bottle of flat black Rustoleum over the whole hood.

yea i kinda figured it was not a good idea to buff, but since i am on a learning curve i thought what the hell just do it and see what happens lol. next time i see that on another vehicle i will surely not do it.

It was ok to do it, what the guys are saying is that usually once the paint is to that point, the haziness comes back in short order, even if you are able to improve it temporarily.

Truth.

You will just get mad every time you wash it because the gloss will progressively fade more and more and more.

But seriously, it looks like you are pro status at polishing, especially with that kind of turn around!
