I bought bulk mfs on eBay for less than a dollar a towel

I've found that for some decent MF towels, you can get 30 or so 16" x 16" at Costco or Sam's for a great price. By far better than the WM ones, and great for many areas. For the LSP, I'd stick to the Cobra's.

So I have heard about the MF towels at Sam's! I will do more researching on pricing when that comes around, I am more interested on doing my research and asking around for suggestions on different solutions and such first!

Ebay is always good, especially for car audio. Saved about a grand in parts for the BA audio system in my GT, that is before I sold it with it :doh: Oh well, off to bigger and better things, AKA Terminator! Won't miss it much after I hear the ole heaton whine!

This is a lot different and much improved from the original list thanks to all of the help here and some research by me to follow. My question is, what do you think of the overall list and product selection? Is there anything I could cut down on to save money or anything I should add? I will be detailing my vehicle as well as family vehicles and some other friends or locals. Maybe 3-6 cars a month for maintenance. Thanks.

I'm a little late to the party, but you forgot your grit guards (I'm not sure if they will fit in those "Homer" buckets, there was a recent thread about that). I'd skip that gallon of Hyper Dressing and just use your 303 for the engine detailing. I see you've got some other gallons of stuff in there...take it from someone who dreamed of finding the perfect product in each category and then buying a gallon of it--I'm off that bandwagon. So many new products come out and the existing ones get updated--that gallon of Opti-Bond will last you for a decade if you are just doing your own car. Sure, it's cheaper by the ounce, but you might want to look at the sample bottle or the quart.

Also, think hard on that Meg's Wheel Brightener--it's a pretty serious acid, one that I wouldn't use in my home. A lot of people scoff, but I've used the acid that's in there industrially, and as I say, I wouldn't have that in my home.

I would HIGHLY suggest the Meguiars DA MF 5.5 kit.

Agreed but he can always buy the MF pads and D300 separately. That's what I did and I use it when it applies. Not to mention he has two highly effective compounds and polishes on his list. You are correct though, the DA kit is a nice option to have.


OP, you list looks fantastic imo. You have just about everything needed for a paint correction.


Also, the grit guards DO fit in the home depot homer buckets. You can save some money there!


EDIT : Is your pricing correct for that backing plate? $30 for a backing plate sounds insanely high. Should run around half of that!

What is this DA kit, I have never been informed of this one? And it is the price of the 5 inch 3M backing plate here on autogeek. Is there a cheaper one that will work just as well I am not aware of? Thanks in advance.

You'll likely find several people with conflicting opinions on this one. I've tried tons of wheel cleaners and I'd rate the wheel brightener up there with some of the best, especially for removing baked brake dust. I've had zero issues with it thus far. Combine the effectiveness of the product with the tremendous value - that's why I suggested it. There are other wheel cleaners that can do the same job but are typically more expensive. In the end, youll have to decide.

I think that one is a no brainer then! I'm going to give it a shot. Whats your opinion on having both the 303 Aerospace Protectant and Meg's Hyper Dressing. Should I nix one or the other. I am leaning toward not purchasing the 303 and have the gallon of hyper dressing for interior components as well as rubber hoses/groments and plastic covers in the engine bay. What do you think? And is the 3M backing plate worth the extra 12 bucks or is it too expensive and should I go with the cheaper option?

Absolutely, HF/ABF wheel cleaners are the most effective.

On my phone so this will be short I'll go more in depth in a bit. Biggest savings item I can offer is get some OPC OPTIMUM power cleaner in a gallon and get rid of all your separate wheel, tire, spot, interior, exterior, bug remover. This will save you a lot of money with just doing that. Also I would get some onr for clay lube and quick detailer, and get the pinnacle clay that is on Bogo.its all about fewer products that do more.

Smart idea going to the 5.5" pads. They will work good for you. Make sure you clean them so you can get multiple uses
