Waxaholics!

Is this really true??

No once again ppl think they know everything. My friend lives near a busy railroad and I'd say every two month I have to clay when I wax his car. Railroad dust is all over it. So depending where you live and how offen you drive you car through contaminants, you NEED to clay your car before waxing.

yes it's true, i do know everything.

But seriously it's a matter of preference. Not all of us live next to railroads homie. If your washing technique sucks then you will want to polish every time but I think many would agree that claying and or polishing every time we wax would be a bit of overkill.

Especially if you're sick like me and you wax twice a week minimum.

If I had to clay every time I waxed/sealed I'd probably look into Iron-X or another good spray on contaminate remover... Probably more risk of damage by claying all the time.

Well first off if we're talking about over kill waxing twice a week is a pure waste of product. Wax is proven to last at least 2 months. For a decent wax. Simple spray waxes and quick detailers after a wash will maintain the shine from wax.

Secondly ironx and contaminant removers do not remove all residue on the surface of the paint. You still must clay after using them. Plus that would be a waste of money to use iron x that offen. Stuffs not cheap.

Hello, my name is Kyle, and today I start waxing my car every week for the rest of summer.

While some might say it's a waste of product...could be, yes. But now I'm afraid my waxes and sealants will go bad, and overusing them is the only way I know they'll get used (short of trading them off).

I have three boxes of AutoGlym High Def, plus pots of BFMS, DoDo Juice Supernatural Hybride, Migliore Primo, and I have on the way Autobrite Addiction, Heritage Wax and Valet Pro Artemis Wax Seal pots. We're not even talking sealants (got another six of those). It's more or less one of those, be able to walk in to the collection room (in this case, the floor of my closet) and think "Hmmm...which wax do I want to use today?" and then waste 20 minutes thinking about which wax to use. And I kinda like having a selection of unique waxes, like the three that are on the way.

At least it's not an addiction that will kill anyone...right guys?

Vacuum seal bags and a fridge fixes that problem. Stop you addiction!!!!!
Btw it is also proven. Any more them 4 layers of wax will start to flatten out the shine of the clear. Not to mention the waxes stops sticking. Therefore your throwing it away and wasting it. If you wanna throw the waxes away send them my way. Lol

WG sealant went on sunday but i'm thinking today will be Supernatural Hybrid.

This has to be the best introduction thread ever.

Shhhh....don't tell me that....I hear reason and logic behind that....don't kill the dream.

Have a kid or two...then you won't have time for the 2-4 washes & waxes a week....

Yes, i've heard that before. The wife and I are planning on having a couple in a year or two. There will be a lull in washing until the kid turns 5 and I have him washing the lower half of the car and wheels.

As for too much wax dulling the shine...I've had upwards of 15 LSP's on my car and no ill affects. To each his own, gentleman. Don't hate.

Today would have been wash/wax #2 for this week but unfortunately I won't have time: I have my counseling session soon and then it's off to the tattoo parlor for some new ink. Speaking of my counselor, they don't find anything wrong with my new addiction. We have come to an agreement: Idle hands are the Devil's workshop.

Maybe 2-4 applications could be overkill; a waste of product.

I figure a buck or two per app is cheap entertainment compared to the booze/hookers route. Plus, 9/10 times my Camaro looks badass!

Wax on, cousins of the carnauba!

Were you trying to break your addiction by buying a white car?

i love your avatar. i'm also an avid serial killer when not waxing.

My avatar isn't meant to signify violence against women. Quite the opposite, actually. My nickname for my car is "The Ladykiller". The Camaro is such a sexy beast it just slays the ladies.

:)

Now that's funny!!! :)

I agree though, there are worse things to be addicted to! Wax away!

Slays or crushes them under it's weight!! That's one heavy pig of a car! Thankfully GM is gonna trim the "fat" on the next gen! :)
