I was wondering if anybody has come up with a ingenious design for a grit guard? I have seen everything from a paint tray to a kitchen colander.

Yep I believe a company called grit guard perfected it. I put 2 in a bucket and fill it up about 4 inches above the guard so it doesn't stir up the dirt on the bottom.

Doesn't fit in normal 5 gallon buckets though?

Doesn't fit my 5 gallon bucket from Autozone nor the joint compound ones,I've heard fits the Lowes one,can someone confirm this.

I have them in a Lowes bucket. I had to trim the legs down to fit.

Make sure you don't leave any debris from trimming on the guards and you should be ok.

I have been using the Lowes buckets like this for almost two years with no negative effects.

They also fit in the old joint compound buckets. It broked my cheap Pep boys bucket.

I would just take the grid guard to Home depot and try it out.3 buckets at Home depot is $7.00.Only 1 here AG costs $13.00 LMAO.

What are they thinking ?:bash:

My grit guard fits in the HD bucket but does not set down on the bottom of the bucket. It wedges before it hits bottom.

I agree with the home depot buckets, I have to jam the grit guard in and it still don't sit to the bottom of the bucket.

They fit in the blue Walmart buckets 5 gal and to the bottom like they suppose to
