So I got some promo codes for Google AdWords and started up some campaigns recently. I'm curious for anyone else who is running a daily AdWords campaign: what type of bounce rates are you getting? Mine seem RIDICULOUSLY high and are way off from my website average (71% bounce rate for CPC vs 25% for direct or organic clicks).

If you don't mind posting some metrics I'm just curious what type of bounce rates you are getting from your AdWords campaigns so I can decide if I want to keep mine going or not.

Thanks in advance!!!

How [much] you paying per click?

My campaigns are currently at $1.41 avg. CPC which gets me pretty much top 3, first page, for every keyword.

I've already got 2 jobs out of 15 clicks so far so it actually seems to be going pretty well. The campaign has only been live since Sunday...

I started my adwords campaign back in Feb to see how it would work. I got $100 free from google so figured I'd give it a try.

I started at $5 a day, which worked out well up until about a month ago. More detailers in my area are now signed up for it, so it's bumping me down cause they are paying more.

Right now I upped it a little to see if I can get better placement. But I'm not going to go really crazy right now.

As far as bounce rates I'm not too sure what you mean.

How hard was it to set up and how many words did you get?

AdWords is pretty easy to setup. I probably had my whole campaign going in just over an hour and that's including building a landing page for my website. I'm running about 23 keywords that are market specific for my area; things like "auto detailing portland" and stuff. Then I have 3 different ads in rotation to test what gets a higher click-through-rate. I would be happy to help you get a campaign up and running if you wanted any help.

This is an example of the landing page I am using:

I got the $100 free from Google too! I also have another $100 from my web hosting company that I haven't used yet so I will use that when the first $100 runs out. I have my budget set at $10/day and that runs out every day (mostly due to one specific high-volume market). I have my CPC cap set at $2.00 for every keyword IIRC.

Bounce rate is the percentage of people who exit your site from the landing page. So basically it means they looked at that one page and then left to go to anther website or back to the Google search results. It's typically bad to have a high bounce rate so that's why I was worried.

Oh alright. Well I never set mine up that way. Mine is just directed to my website.

I didn't set up a separate page for it. But I see why you do it.
