So I've got a PC 7424xp and I use it with CCS pads. The polishes are from the XMT line (2,1,glaze, 360). The car is a 2012 Acura TSX SE 6MT in Milano Red.

Why is it that my pads all turn red (except the grey)? I've used Orange, White, and Green-- all red. Is that normal. Can post pics if desired.

It sounds like you have a tinted clear coat. This means that mixed in with the clear is a slight tint. It's not a problem. But it can tell you what products have cut and what products don't.

By your description this indicates to me that the paint is single stage or color coat only without clear coat or possibly a tinted clear. Generally, the tint in a clear is not normally sufficient or concentrated enough to leave a lot of color on a foam pad...

That's what is sounds like to me. You usually get color on your pads if there is no clear coat. It is kinda strange a 2012 would have no clear on it unless it was repainted already

So des this mean that i need to polish less, maintain more, something else?

Believe it or not some colors are not clear coated. Toyota's are one manufacturer that does not clear all it's colors especially non metallic colors like white..

I know they have had a lot of issues with that color in the past. At one point say 2009ish it was a tinted clear, not a single stage. The tinted clear on that color (at least in those years) would actually have a lot of color transfer and seemed it was a single stage paint. As far as 2012 paint on those..... they may have switched back to single stage paint. I know they did a lot of resprays on vehicles with that color in the past as the basecoat was turning pink and polishing wouldn't help due to the tinted clear being on top.

Single stage paints have very little defense against the sun and elements and will therefore begin to oxidize much faster than if it was clear coated. What I would do in this case is to polish the finish as perfect as possible and coat with a product like Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0.

Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is a permanent hard coating much like a clear but harder, This will provide a protective barrier that will help slow the finishes degrade..

I can vouch for that, my brother has a 2001 Toyota Camry and it is SS it is very oxidized and every time I see it I tell him to bring it by for a polish and wax, but it is not that big of deal to him. gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr drives me crazy.

Milano Red is a single stage paint, has been for a very long time. Another color Honda has that is single stage is Taffeta White but that is the only other color I can recall from Honda/Acura.

:iagree:

i had the same thing when i polished my dads gmc acadia 2009
the car is red and the orange and green pads turned slightly red can barley be seen
its obviously tinted clear becus new cars does not have single stage
or at least not that i know Im the MAN

10 4...get some opti coat 2.0 on a single stage paint, try and reduce the UV too by using a garage too.
