Kind of sad to see a friend go...

Just talked to my buddy Al and he told me he sold his 1959 El Camino to a guy in Australia...

I really like 1959 El Camino's and Al's was in excellent condition with the 348 Big Block Chevy. A team of guys including Al and myself poured our hearts and souls into polishing out the paint on his black beauty to perfection and it's kind of sad to know it's leaving the U.S. for probably forever...

Check it out here and it was on Episode 7 of our TV show.

Here's the 348 Big Block Chevy engine in Al's 1959 El Camino

You can easily identify the 348 by it's unique style of valve cover...

Chevy 409 blocks had the same style of valve cover also. That is one beautiful car.

Mike, that is an absolutely gorgeous piece of history.

Every piece and every surface gleams with care and perfection. The engine compartment is better than new and the system even appears to be 12 volt vs. the standard 6 volt of its time.

The 348 and the 409 were legendary workhorses of that era certainly earned their place on the racing circuit.

It's finds like these that you just don't have the opportunity to witness up close very often...:props:

Thanks for the post Mike!

Man she had the all swirls in the right spot............the car looked great too.

I also kinda sad that we haven't seen any swirl girls in a while...

Thanks for the post Mike!

I've been detailing cars longer than I sometimes want to remember and I would NEVER turn down a classic El Camino with Bat Wings in black and with REAL trim made from chrome, stainless or aluminum.

This was the first 1959 El Camino I've ever worked on and shared the blessing with a team of guys...

One of my friends has a Hi Performance 409 on display on an engine stand, next time I'm with him I'll take a picture.

In the first season of our TV show I interviewed Walt, the owner of a 1934 Chevy 3-Window Coupe with a BLOWN 409, this car was the real deal, a drag car from the 1960's all it's life. I talked to Walt a few weeks ago and the 34 is now in a Museum.

That was something that was fun to try, but we don't want to offend anyone AND my goal is to always keep the focus on the products, process and of course... the car...

Al, the guy who owned this classy El Camino told me he took the money and purchased a 2012 Convertible Camaro in black!

So I'm sure we'll see it down here for something, we might apply Opti-Coat II
