Identify this Wash Mitt (pics)

Well, after using this absolutely fantastic wash mitt for almost 2 swirl-free years, I figured it was time to buy a new one. Problem is... I don't see it listed in the autogeek store anymore! There is no brand name on the mitt anywhere that I can find. (the color has faded since new)

Let me just say this.. after I couldn't find this mitt, I did some googling on the best wash pad. I bought into the hype of a certain company's wash pad that starts with an "A." This is what happened.

Luckily, they were very light and came off with 1 pass of the wolfgang finishing polish and a white pad.

Never again will I ever trust any detailing site other than autogeek.net!
 
Well, this isn't exactly the same, but it's closer: Meguiars X3002 Microfiber Wash Mitt

Those fake sheepskin ones are terrible (as you found out).

PS You might also want to look at your local chain auto parts and big box stores and see if you can find something you like.
 
Yup...that "A _ _ _ _" wash pad is NOT whats happenin. I noticed smalls pieces of dirt and grime stayed stuck on the pad even after scrubbing on the grit guard. I went out and got the Griots Garage MF Wash Pad and it works great.

Yeah, I like those muppet-head ones, and the Bone, the covering of which is probably similar to the OP's mitt.
 
Wow, thanks for the excellent feedback guys!!

Cam, I'm 99% sure that's it. I don't know why the reviews are so bad on it lol.. this thing rocks. Come to think of it though, it doesn't "clean" as good as I would like it to on the heavily soiled areas (rear bumper). I have to wash the rear 2 or 3 times depending on how dirty it is. Maybe that's why they call it a detail mitt.

I'll look into some of the other ones mentioned here. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the "A_ _ _ _" pad sucks. The general consensus around the internet says it's the best.

Sucks to be those guys.. I'm assuming they have never washed a black car with it.

I didn't catch that. Wonder why they don't sell it anymore? I got two of these on BOGO last year but haven't used them yet. I want to pick up some of those white meguiars microfiber wash mitts too. Can't beat the price.
 
ive been using meguiars wash mitt for long time with no problems
 
Sorry OP, I don't mean to threadjack. To answer you're original question, I don't know where you can get that mitt anymore, as others have said, it looks to be discontinued.

Now, I use the A brand, in fact I have three of them. They won't scratch the back of an audio CD let alone your clear coat unless you have improper technique. By improper technique, I mean no disrespect. You may have carried some contaminants back on to the paint, but the wash pads themselves will not scratch the clear. Sorry, there are too many variables to randomly show some light swirls and scratches on a black DD, and say they where from the wash pad. To each is own, and use whatever you feel comfortable, but the pads themselves will not scratch your clearcoat.:dblthumb2:

I have the same mitt. I haven't had the same problem, but I've noticed that debris does just latch to the damn thing. Basically have to inspect it and hose off what doesn't just fall off on the grit guard. Kind of annoying.
I also have a mitt from Chemical Guys bucket kit, but I haven't removed it from packaging thinking it's basically the same thing.

To those speaking of the Megs mitt, are you talking about the Meg's Microfiber Mitt?
edit: Sorry, setec linked to it from the get go. I imagine I should be able to find that easily.

I imagine I could just pick one of those up locally and see if it's a little nicer in terms of letting contaminates go.
