I washed 2 of my 5.5" Lake Country Flat Orange pads 2 days ago and left them to dry Velcro side up on a drying rack and I noticed today that one pad has slightly collapsed in the middle but the other has not. Is this normal?

Here are a couple of pictures of the pad, if it helps:

I did a search but nothing came up.

Those look like the tangerine hydro tech pads. I remember seeing somewhere that these pads tend to dimple in the center after use.

Oh ok. Thanks, Ryan.

They're actually more orange in person. The camera didn't do a very good job of capturing the color.

The flat pads have a more beveled edge. Just next time try facing the pad Velcro up when drying.

My HT Cyan pad did the same thing. I have heard some people say that this can happen if you use the same pad for too long and it gets too hot. None of my other HT pads have had this problem.

Same thing happened to one of orange LC flat pads. The center was getting warm due to too much product migrating its way to the center.

Now, I clean my pads more often during use and switch to another pad sooner.

I did :)

And my orange pads have a black Velcro...don't HT pads have white Velcro on the back?

Maybe that's what happened with me?

I guess I should invest in more pads. Today I really felt like 2 pads aren't enough. Now the question is should I get more LC flat pads or just go to Optimum's microfibre pads?

After some sleuthing and speaking with Eric at Lake Country, it seems like LC has DA Foam pads with a cut-back black Velcro interface. My yellow, orange, white and black pads all have the same backing.

I was confused because I didn't order HT pads, which have white Velcro (confirmed by Eric) and it seems like regular LC flat foam pads have Velcro right to the edges and a different cut edge from the ones that I have.

So what I have is their DA Foam pads which, according to Eric, have a stronger adhesive to resist the delamination issues that can occur when using a DA polisher. And he just emailed me to confirm they are LC pads. :xyxthumbs:

I hope this post helps other people who are as crazy as myself.

I just used a new 4 inch tangerine Hydro-Tech on my motorcycle. It did a great job but about have way through the job it cupped the same way. Washed it out with DP pad cleaner but so far it appears that cupping is permanent.

From what I remember, Eric said the cupping is most likely a result of a combination of using too much product and too much heat.
