Check out this technique. thoughts ?

Anybody else notice he doesn't wipe off the compound before he starts with the polish? There are lots of edits in the video so who knows but it didn't appear to me he removed the compound?

Not wiping off polish is one of his signature techniques as well.

How can you possibly check your work if you don't wipe the polish residue away? I understand wanting to touch the paint as little as possible to reduce the risk of marring, but with good towels and good techniques it shouldn't be a problem.

5:00PM

The cars both arrive at 5:00pm and Yancy and I will get them into position in the garage, it's a tight fit considering we need enough room for people to work on all sides of the vehicles and get the camera in for shots.

Yancy is always ready to go live, it's me that has to gather everyone's attention and remind them I'm wearing a microphone and everything I say and everything they say to me is being recorded.

Alright, thanks a lot!

I've never agreed with this technique.

The problem with working ANY product over severely or mildly neglected paint is at some level you're going to loosen,

  • Impurities
  • Oxidation
  • Paint particles (if you're abrading

And of course you'll have the "spent" product residue on the surface.

To then apply a fresh application of anything on top of this will be,

  • Adulterating or polluting the fresh product
  • Diluting the fresh product
  • Re-grinding into the paint everything now loosened and sitting on the paint

And after buffing whatever the new application of product is you'll still have to wipe the entire mess off and it can't be getting any easier to wipe off.

But, if the technique of not removing product residue from the previous process before applying the next application of fresh product works for others that's really all that's important.

I would like to read in detail an explanation of how any of this is a good thing.

I personally believe there is a lot of bad information in them, and that his attitude towards others that are trying to learn is terrible. I have seen multiple posts with him becoming angry and defensive whenever his techniques are questioned. He is no longer associated with Adams, so I wonder if there is a reason for that.... Also, check how many other detailing only forums that he posts on....there is a reason for that too...

That said, that is my opinion, and I honestly don't want to get into it too much in this thread since there is great information in it that shouldn't get overrun by the topic of Junkman.

I could see that. He snapped at me in the other forum over the griot's motor power. Other posts he was informative tho. Oh well, I was just curious.
