People think I'm a fool for setting my alarm clock EVEN earlier than I do during the week. LOL. I'm at the gym by 5:45 usually... but today, I set the alarm for 5 am. Got up. Had quick breakfast. Got ready. Then proceeded with my car wash routine of setting all my equipment up, then pulling Marilyn out of the garage.

I tell you what... to me, there is NOTHING else I'd rather do on a Saturday morning that relaxes me more than this. Wife and kids are fast asleep. Silence. Peace. I start Marilyn up, I hear her Shelby's roar to life against the serenity of the morning calm. I hear birds chirp. The sun is out, but it's not warm enough to cause discomfort, or heat up the paint too much that you can't wash it. Ahhhhh just perfect. I turn on the tunes, and I'm off. Before I know it, 2 hours have gone by... Alas, it's back to my normal life of crying babies and poopy diapers :props: At least it was a calm 2 hours before the storm... hehe.

How many of you also do this on the weekend mornings??? Do you all find it very relaxing and therapeutic as well? Share your stories :)

Here's some pics, all unedited. Also wanted to showcase my swirl free Kona Blue metallic paint. In all honesty, this paint color is my all time favorite. Absolutely adore it.

These photos were all after just a simple wash, and before I put a coat of Fuzion on. I wasn't able to get pics since the kids were calling.

Detailing for me is a great way to relieve stress and do something that's enjoyable. Spending quality time with my car or truck gives me an opportunity to improve it's appearance and work with my hands and eyes...

Many don't understand, but that's OK because I do! :props:

I am exactly the same as you. Can't think of anything better than cleaning my car on the weekends.

Thank you. It's nice to know I am not alone. Normal folks just won't understand this.

Some people golf, some gamble, some get engrossed in a book, some ride a motorcycle, some go fishing, camping, etc....

well...... I DETAIL.

lol.

I agree 100%, love that blue on the Mustang, paint quality has really come a loooooooong way, hasn't it! Although detailing the car is awesome, how about when your all done, enough time has passed where all the water has dried up EVERYWHERE on/in the car and you take that Stang out and about, that's the next "what its all about" IMO, especially when you drive pass large, store front windows or even better, polished SS tanker trucks or flatbed tow trucks that have polished SS boxes on the side......WINDOW SHOPPING AT ITS VERY, VERY BEST!

Thank you. I'm beginning to think I have a problem as I am applying a coat of Blacklight and V7 every week (I'll blame you for that). If it rains I take my fiance car instead as I don't want to take my car out and undo all my good work.

Applying something to your paints finish once a week, I see nothing wrong with that:dblthumb2:

I'm the same as you. Love getting up early on Saturday to wash my car. Get about an hour of silence before my daughter gets up and wants breakfast.

Hold up! If this catches on, I'm going to have to look for another line of work. :nomore:

Don't worry Scott, even though many of us find detailing therapeutic, detailing is a ton of work and only the obsessed enjoy doing it......I have several friends that LOVE having their cars look great but won't even think of doing it themselves...

You're safe!! :props:

This is sooooo true. Is that laziness or just not interested? I guess that would be like really loving to eat a cheesecake, but having no interest in making it or learning how to make it. Lol

Well, I do this in reverse, I am up in the driveway starting about 10:00pm after everyone has gone to bed washing the cars, drying and waxing or quick detailing, and it is a great way to relieve stress and get some solitude. I have great lighting in the driveway also which allows me to do this. Family and neighbors think I am crazy. Worked nightshift a lot of years and never have really gotten back on a regular schedule. However I am getting ready to go out and detail my truck this morning. Did two cars last night. :buffing:

You really summed this feeling up perfectly. No need to say more other than I feel the same way. I don't even set my alarm on the weekends. The excitement of this precious time wakes

me. Bowhunting is the only thing that can generate such emotion for me. But! No bowhunting in the summer months:dblthumb2:

That's a good point. I also find myself detailing (sometimes) in the late hours of the night. However, if I do, I only limit it to application of LSP's, or worse case, ONR washing. I am too worried about the lack of natural sunlight to inform me of the paint condition during washing. I worry about marring or scratching my paint inadvertently without me knowing.

That's also a good point. Sometimes I forget to set my alarm for the morning, but I still find myself waking up naturally all amped up and ready to detail :) The joys of summer sun. Here in Iowa, I only get to enjoy this for a few months. As fall approaches, I am forced to detail much later in the morning than I want to... I want to get all my detailing done early, so I have the rest of the day to enjoy with the family.

I love that Mustang!

I'd rather clean my truck than a lot of other things. Most sports don't interest me, so cleaing the truck is my passion.

Thanks vet! I love her too :)

Passion is an understatement for you and me :)

Again, nice Stang! Looks so sick!

I used to do the same thing but mostly during summer. The sun rises at around 5:15 so I wake up at around 5:30-6. In the middle of summer here, the morning is the most optimum time to wash because it's so hot. Even if the sun has already set, the temps are in the 100s. The lows are around high 80s to low 90s so even in the morning, you have to rush drying the car. But ever since I started working, I have a hard time waking up that early. How do you guys do it? Coffee?

haha, yeah I do envy your lack of snow, but man, the heat would kill me!!!

As far as waking up... I always wake up early. I go to the gym at that time :)
