I just got my PTG. I bought it off EBay for $115.00.... And guess what... It works great! I calibrated it for ferrous and non ferrous metals and was able to get consistent readings from the calibration foils provided. Its called a TecPel TG 902 Coating Thickness Gauge. After calibration, I measured around the car and went back to the same locations and got consistent, logical readings - as points that were polished more were a little thinner. Here's just a few pics, when I get a chance I'll write a review:

That looks cool. At that price I wouldn't mind one just to play around with. Wonder how it compares to the $249.99 Highline 2.

So it says ALM when it detects aluminum?

Wow, pretty interesting, when you do your review show a pic of the part that contacts the car and it being held against the car for a reading.

I'm also confused by the display that's showing two readings. Or is the aluminum 156 micron the current reading, and the ferrous 307 micron the last reading (I hope not, that's a heck of a difference in paint thickness)?

I haven't had a chance to figure out all the features yet. That's not "aluminum", that's "alarm". As in, you can set an alarm at different min max thickness I believe. The other number (the 300 number) was the thickness when I measured the thickness of my clear bra previously.
There seems to be some info in Russian about this meter, I'm wondering if it comes from there. It seems to be pretty consistent.

You need a manicure. Your nails look terrible

Nice looking gauge
