No offense, but there's more to shipping than what you posted. Shipping companies base shipping charges on the 'WEIGHT' of the package and 'WHERE' the package is being shipped.

You realize there is even more to shipping then that? Size of a package can make a huge difference. UPS while charging for "actual weight" can also charge for what they call dimensional weight. What that means, is they will charge you for what your box COULD weigh even though you might be shipping foam peanuts.

Just a thought.

As consumers we also have options to find the deals that best suit our needs.
Exactly, but what I fail to see is how that translates to coming on here and saying Autogeek sucks?

Yes I'm very well aware of that. I just posted what I did to hit a few points of shipping, not 'ALL' aspects of shipping charges in order to keep my post short as possible.

Now explain where in 'MY' post did I say AG SUX....

it doesn't cost AG any more to ship a 10lb $20 item than it does to ship a 10lb $200 item.

That's not really exactly right, if the package is insured, the higher the value (once it goes over UPS's $100 base insurance), the more the insurance cost.

Regarding your other comments about pricing, sales, etc., retail is always difficult to parse because of the large markups. When it's routine to give 10 or 15 or 20% off, or to put items on BOGO (50% off, sort of), it kind of seems like you're getting ripped off if you don't get that discount. (on the other hand, I don't see people saying, no, I don't want this BOGO, that's not fair to AG to give it to me for half price).

I can tell you that if products with smaller margins were sold like this, people would never be willing to accept full price again, it's like the "rebate" syndrome the car companies got into in the 80's until a few years ago, they were giving such large incentives to clear the lots at the end of the model year, no one would buy a car unless they received that incentive, even if the lots weren't full. Or if a car dealer did a BOGO and you and your wife got two cars for the price of one, you'd be grousing for the rest of your life about how you were getting ripped off on every other car you bought.

So the profits are a slippery slope, a fine line, etc., you want companies to be profitable, you just don't want to feel like it's being abused. Profits at Autogeek are what pays for the beautiful facility, the Showcar Garage, Mike Phillips, all the videos and live feeds, DetailFest, etc.

I don't know where I'm going with this other than to say it's a two-way street, everybody wants to get the best deal, the company wants make the most money, you've got to meet in the middle somewhere where you are both happy.

Now if AG has a shipping rate based on total dollar amount spent, I was not aware of that.

Shipping Rates: Continental USA
Shipping rates include Handling, Packing and Insurance.
We charge a flat rate based on the order value. Please note that shipping on oversized or heavy items may be higher than these prices. On oversized items, we have noted that the item will require a shipping rate quote for expedited or international shipping. Correction: Research can provide alot of info if 'WE ALL' take time to do it. The first sentence explains what AG uses to set "IT'S shipping rates;

Shipping Rates: Continental USA Shipping rates include Handling, Packing and Insurance.

This is enough for all of us to know what is used, in addtion to the regular standards, when AG sets its' shipping rates. Obviously that has been overlooked by many of us. Hope that settles it for 'ALL' of us on the topic of shipping rates.

Wow, there are several fine decaffeinated blends. Of course it's "shipping and handling" which includes insurance. Very few places use an "actual" cost, and who could possibly tell what the "actual" cost is? UPS, FedEx, etc. negotiate individual contracts and pricing with regular shippers, there is no way for us to know what AG actually pays for a UPS shipment, regardless of what one could find at the UPS site.

Again, research BEFORE you respond to a post and also before you try to add sarcasm (unecessarily) to a post. No one ever implied 'actual cost' as opposed to 'Set rates', which is what the topic is referring to. If you had paid attention you would have seen that info came directly from AG's shipping page. Some people....With the way many on this site carry on it's easy to see some lack 'Professionalism', which should be top priority when you are in business for yourself. And that professionalism would definitely carry over into forums such as this. Over and DEFINITELY out...........

So why do you belong to this forum?
To keep up with the latest products that are released and trade ideas with fellow detailers. Buying from AG isn't a requirement for membership last time I checked...

AG have the BEST customer services and the most competive price. They're more than fair to this community and i love the way they do business.

The part I have bolded is just flat out not true. I deal with a supplier that not only blows away AG in terms of customer service, but price as well. And I get all of my orders in one business day for ACTUAL shipping cost, not some arbitrary number that is made up based on product cost.

Somebody call a whaambulance; if it is anything like where I work, AG does not set the price on the shipping, UPS does ...... period. There have been times I have paid full price for products and shipping from AG, and have come out getting it cheaper than getting it on sale from another site. I mean give them a break even if they do set the price. Boxes, tape, packaging, labels, printing ink, etc. .... ect. Shipping costs. It all adds up.

Plenty of other places do the same thing for cheaper, you think they get their peanuts, boxes, and tape for free? I highly doubt it...

Nothing is free, you and I know that. To try to put an end to this rediculous back and forth, I believe it is very disrespectful and ungrateful to come to their forum and gripe about their pricing and that the discounts were not to your liking. If you dont like the pricing don't buy it, and PLEASE stop complaining. I usually do not get involved with these types of disagreements but I'm sick of the ingratitude. End of rant.

People need to hone their google-fu skills. I realized all I have to do is google for what I am looking for, followed by "coupon code" or "free shipping". You'll be surprised what shows up.

I'm not complaining, I'm just responding to those who are complaining that they don't have to only buy from ag, there are a lot of other detail supply sites to use if they aren't happy with the discounts. Again, I have nothing to complain about since I don't buy from ag anymore.

If you don't like the subject matter, don't come here, and PLEASE stop complaining. (get it?)

I usually do not get involved with these types of disagreements
Then why start now?

You would have been better off saying nothing. Then I would have said nothing. See how this works?

So they give you a place to tune in and in return you complain about their practices?
Just because they give us a place to talk about detailing doesn't mean we should kiss their @ss automatically. I happen to like this forum, and have learned a lot, but I see where this is going.

I don't recall saying anything about kissing anything, there is an awesome middle ground a person can take out of respect and that is to say nothing. They don't require you use their store to use their forum, so there is no reason to complain about their store every time there is an opportunity, that is all I am saying.

Another thing I love is when people CHOOSE to patronize a business and do nothing but complain about it. You know, there are detail supplies at Wal Mart, K Mart, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, and many other local places. If AG is too expensive for you, or the shipping is too high, why don't you shop there. It's cheaper and no shipping!
This vendor can charge whatever they like for product, shipping, or handling. If you don't like it, or are pissed because you can't afford it, then buy elsewhere. That's common sense.

Maybe you should practice what you preach?

Aren't you the same Guy who complained that AG put your order on hold because you used a discount code then tried to gimmic the system by trying to abuse their price match policy by asking them to them match a free shipping offer from another site?
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/52514-order-hold.html
Come here and act like money is no issue to you then try and gimmic the system to save money ..... You gotta love it! Where is the "common sense" here?

That's funny!

Just because someone doesn't enjoy being taken advantage of doesn't mean they can't afford it. You along with many, many others need to wake up. :dblthumb2:

WeeeeeeHooooooo :xyxthumbs:

Just saying :wave::D

I'm glad I'm an American and have choices :hotrod2:
