My first experience with my new PC, Wolfgang TSR, Finishing Glaze and DGS has blown me away... I just applied my first coat of DGS, with one more to go before I apply Collinite 845 to finish the car, but I'm highly impressed thus far.

Get that thing out in the SUN!

Yea lets see the SI in the sun man. Looks good from that one picture though.

Big fan of the Wolfgang twins here. Grab some Menzerna polishes when you have a chance! Nice results btw.

Good work. Looks great. I chose the same products for my first time. Very user friendly.

For those interested, look up weather for 77429...

This weather started the day my stuff arrived... Needless to say, my car hasn't left the garage, YET.

And yes I have a mind, it's usually on vacation though :)

That looks really good, I'm sure you are inspecting your work with a bright light so I know it's going to look awesome when the sun finally does find your paint! Great job!:dblthumb2:

I picked up 2 halogen work lights that I have been using for lighting. The car looks great where there are no defects, but my bumper(paint is flaking off), hood (paint is actually cracking. It looks like someone threw a bucket of coins at my hood) and door trim (just faded, glue is wearing off, wasn't able to fully correct after multiple passes with the yellow pad. 105/205 would be my next guess) looks like crap. Honda's paint is horrible. The paint is super thin and I have clear coat fading in multiple places. I'm going to my dealer next week to try and get them to repaint some places. If they refuse, I'm trading this thing in before my paint begins to fall off.

But the panels and pillars look incredible! Im the MAN

I'm now done with the paint after 3 days of work!

Wheels, trim and interior come next.

Make sure that you take it to a Honda dealer that has a collision shop. The service department will check it out and see if it passes for repaint, but the collision shop will take the necessary photos for the claim and help work with the Honda rep.

The issue is that the car has 60k miles on it, but it's only 32 months old. I bought the car off of the truck in November 09.

The dealer isn't going to issue the warranty, it's going to be paid for by Honda of America.

Google "civic clear coat" and look for the link to a thread at 8thcivic.com I'm not the only person that had had this issue, many others have too.

Fact of the matter is that a well maintained and garaged vehicle should not have paint and clear coat failure after 32 months.

A few more and example of paint failure on my bumper. The bumper just can't be corrected, it needs to be repainted. Paint is bubbled and flaking on the entire thing. It's just impossible to correct this or make it look any more decent.

Also a couple of places on my panels I cleaned after these shots.

Chase, I understand your issue quite well actually. My one post on this board belies the fact that up until a few weeks ago, I was a collision estimator at a Honda dealer with an attached collision shop.

Now, I mentioned taking it to a dealership with a collision shop because taking it to one without a collision shop has you going between two entities (service shop and collision shop) that you don't really want to be separated on this deal because there will then be one more chance for someone in the chain to jerk you around. Honda of America isn't going to make a house call, so, as I mentioned earlier, you'll be headed to their representative in your area...the Honda stealership. You'll be dealing with a service writer and his manager, the body shop estimator and his manager, the Honda rep. and maybe a great painter who has been at it a while.

You may want to get a copy of the bulletins from the web or alldata and read over them before you go in so you'll know what to say and more specifically, what not to say (my xxxx polisher and xxxxxx polish and swirl remover really did well on this clearcoat).

This is going to be a case of catching flies with honey, but it can be done. I've seen a few clear peelers and one new Accord with a complete delam get painted on HoA's ticket in the past 3 months, so it's not impossible. Good luck! :xyxthumbs:

Hopefully my tone of voice wasn't misread. By no means was I trying to sound snappy. So my apologies if I came off wrong.

The car is 32 months old with just over 60k. That car has been maintained above the standards of what most owners have for their vehicles. With the miles on the vehicle, I'm just not expecting a Honda dealer to immediately agree to repair it. I was assuming with the young age of the vehicle, being the first owner and the high miles that this would have to go through an hoa rep. I live in Houston so there are Honda dealers on every corner. I did sales for 2 years with Toyota and Ford in a smaller market near Houston so I'm familiar with such processes. I'm aware that with the market I live in that dealers aren't afraid to piss you off. If you leave mad, there are 5 more potential customers coming in behind you that they can work with. Half of my sales in College Station (Home of Tex A&M, and Gig'em!) were pissed off customers from Houston. CS is only an hour drive from Houston, so I frequently got people to come up and sale to. I bought the Si new from Allen Honda there in CS and I have a good history with them on maintenance but the car is serviced at John Eagle Honda (no body shop) here in Houston. John Eagle is a typical large dealership in the city... Everything is fast and typical and business is not done on a personal level. Allen Honda is personal type of dealer though. They are a smaller dealer that wants their customers to return. They are easy to work with and good at getting things done but they don't have a body shop. Allen is the dealer that would fight with HOA for the customer and not dismiss them like the typical Houston dealers would.

With the high miles and young age of the car, this would be an out of warranty repair that hoa would have to approve for repair and reimbursement.

If it's not repaired, the car is getting traded. I'll make it clear that this is first Honda and my last if they do not correct my problem. I don't mind informing them that at 22 years old, I have many cars left to purchase in my days to come and that another Honda won't be one of them.

This whole situation feels like a catch 22, but hopefully it will work out in my benefit.
