It seems that one of my kids spilled a blue drink on one side of the van while another spilled a red drink on the other side. When the drinks spilled, it ran all the way up to the front row seating from the second row when the brakes were applied. My wife said she tried using our steamvac from the house on it, but the color did not come out of the carpet. I tried putting some full strength simple green on the stains and worked it in with a carpet brush. I then put hot water on it and pulled it up with a shop vac. It did not remove the stains. I am sure the stains have been there for a while, so is this something that can only be fixed by replacing the carpet?

Thanks, guys. I just picked up some Folex to try out this evening.

1) I may be a good idea to remove the seats, from your description sounds like a big stain all the way to the front row... Now, if you do remove the seats, don't put the key back in the ignition until you reinstall the seat and connect the wire harness back on, otherwise you will get and ABS light on your dash.

2) Always spray the entire area around the stain, otherwise you will get a nice clean spot surrounded by dirt...

3) Don't put the Folex in the machine. There should be just hot water in the machine and just Folex on the carpet.. It clean much better this way.

The most important:

4) Once you're done, seal the fabric with some 303 Fabric Guard, watch the video on this link to see what I mean. Don't use a brush to work the product in tho, just spray on and let it cure for 12 hours. Wipe it off any overspray on plastics.

Thank you very much for your help. My wife says these colored drink stains have been there for a long time (over a year), so they are baked in over two summers. She said she tried various cleaners not long after it happened, but they didn't come out. Ill keep this Folex handy for any future stains.

Is the carpet stain or paint worth trying?

Try using m105 and a yellow pad. Works like a charm. For red stains use toothpaste and a hard brush.

I was looking up m105. Is this the Meguiar's product?

We are all over Middle TN..... today had a guy working on semi's in Smyrna, I was in Franklin finishing up an airstream, had a guy working on a boat in Old Hickory....... Tommorrow, we have a MB and Vette in Clarksville to take care of - pretty wide range man.

try armor all cleaning wipes and some elbow grease. I know armor all is kinda taboo on here, but doing doing this got year-old set in oil stains out of the carpet in my friends pontiac

I use folex all the time but..if it's a colored stain from a sports drink like Gatorade it is not going to come out. those drinks use some type of dye to get those colors.

You don't need to buy new carpets. Try finding someone who dyes auto carpets and have them dye the stain back to original color.
