Hi,

I have tried out paint correction on many of my friends' and my cars.

steps I use:
wash

clay
polish (3M polishing glaze)
polish (3m ultrafina)
seal/wax

the results are usually pretty good except that there are still some swirls remaining under the bright sun (and most of these cars are black...) I do not want to sand down the clear coat because I know my friends won't always maintain the car afterwards, I just use their cars to practice. I dont want to make their paint thinner and thinner...

What should I do? change the polishing method and products?

Thanks for your input

I need to correct a friend's M6 (black too) soon. I want to make sure I do things right on that car cos I can't afford to lose his network...

hi mike, did not expect u tgeb first one to reply...

i am using the 3m 8inch black waffle pad with the greyish polish (low rpm), then ultrafina with ultrafina blue pad (medium rpm)

dewalt 849r i believe. i don't have polishes for my new pc yet...

i have comply with most of ur cleaning techniques during process.

I been wondering about that. Every time you remove swirls you are basically taking off a layer of paint/clearcoat. How many times can you do this before you are down to raw paint?

I dont know, but I remember Mike has a post showing a new car's paint is about 5.x mil thickness, after damp sanding it took off about 0.1 to 0.2 mil thickness....

Anyone else want to put in and help me out?
