I've had Verizon for a few years, but with as little as I really use it, I'm wondering if my plan (400 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited email/web) is worth the $90 a month I'm paying for my phone alone.

AT&T is obviously another good choice but is only a few dollars less, as reported by family and friends with AT&T.

Some people have said their T-Mobile plan works great, and some say its the worst thing ever.

I had sprint for a while (for work) and found that it was just ... okay...

what do you use, do you like it? what are you paying for your plan (if you dont mind posting). I'll be adding another basic phone to the plan soon for the wife, but now she's saying she wants to get a smartphone ... this is gonna hurt.

I use Virgin Mobile No Contract:
1200 Minutes
Unlimited Texting
Unlimited Data
Coverage spotty on a couple of ocassions, but for the price, I can live with that. They only have 4G on their new HTC smartphone.

You can check their web page for coverage in your area.

I have a TracFone that I use with no complaints. You buy the phone and buy minutes as needed. No contract, no BS, no monthly payment. It works for me because I seldom use the phone, I send more texts than anything else.

I also use a Tracfone. It's great for people that don't use a cell phone too much. The one drawback is that they do not offer a smartphone. You can get a semi-smart phone, LG800, but it has limitations.

I have Sprint. For data and texting, the price of their plans are the best. coverage is decent, although the current Sprint network is not as fast as the Verizon and Att from what I understand. For the most part, 4g speeds are acceptable.

I hate AT&T, the service sucks.

I've had Verizon from before they were Verizon and never have dropped calls. I had AT&T via a previous employer and had dropped calls on a regular basis and I'm in a metro metropolitan area (NJ/NYC).

I have Cricket and love it. I have no minute limit or text limit and pay $40 a month with no contract.

I have had Verizon and Sprint in the past and got fed up with the balogne

Virgin Mobile - starting to think of Verizon due to their coverage as I'm getting tired of not having the ability to use my phone. You can't beat Virgin Mobile's no contract and costs though. If they had better coverage I would not even consider moving.

I had Verizon for over 5 years and finally got mad enough to leave when they started capping data. Now I have Virgin Mobile and have seen no discernible difference in coverage or call quality plus it's about 30% less from what I was paying with Verizon (even with a corporate discount). I am just outside of Portland, OR.

That is the phone I have.

I'm stuck with crappy T Mobile untill I get the energy to go listen to a sales pitch from someone else

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to do some shopping around today while on my daily sales route.

I was thinking about it this morning when I got up (i know weird). And for the price, Sprint service wasn't really THAT bad. It wasnt as good as Verizon, but hell for the money I may not have to worry about it.

Also. From work I have an Iphone on Verizon with unlimited everything except text, (capped at 250) which is why I'm shopping around. I dont use too much more than 250 anymore, i used to blow through over 1,000 a month, but as I get older (all of 28 years old) i'm getting to be more of a shut in lol.

I'll check out the Virgin phones also. I dont need much of a talk plan, or even web, just text at this point.

What about StraightTalk from Wal-Mart? I've heard some people talking about it....

I doubt that you are going to find a consensous on cell phone carriers. Ever. everyone has such different expereinces with their carriers. I have AT&T and I love it. No problems, no dropped calls, and great customer service (a rarity Im sure). I had Verizon through work and I wanted to pitch that phone off a roof. I think it boils down to the money you want to spend. Get what fits the budget and cross your fingers like the rest of us. Happy hunting.

How do you like VM? I was going to switch to the iphone on VM but then realized I'd have to pay full price...now I'm scouting out used cdma iphones that I can unlock with the cdma gevey chip and use with VM. Cant beat VM's $35/mo beyond talk! (except for maybe net10s $25/mo 750 min unltd everything else plan) If not I'll look for used gsm 4s's to use with Net10.

How did you like VM? I'm nervous to switch because of the fact that you can't roam :/

My family & I have had sprint for several years and loved it. Recently, though, we canceled our service to try and save money. Absolutely no complaints about service whereas friends who use tmobile & at&t complain all the time. Verizon is also good, but I've found their customer service to be iffy. Just my 2 cents :P PS I guess we're just a bunch of all around geeks - autogeeks and now tech geeks apparently... xDD

I just went ahead and froze the verizon account. This way i can go back to it if i want. my contract is already up so i can cancel whenever. I'm just going to use my free work phone and try to keep personal texts to a minimum. we'll see how it goes for a month or 2.

I use AT and t. The service is good,in terms of coverage, but the business admin part is not great. Everything in the store is so expensive and you could easily find it for cheaper from somewhere else. I have to say that smartphones and cellphones are a waste in life. Yea taking pictures and filming stuff that happens is nice, but on the other hand,

Cell phones give out radiation
cannot be put into water, unless you have expensive case
Are expensive in general
are useless with no service avaiible
created a texting and driving problem
waste of time to play games and spend hours on.
are usually stolen quicker than cars or other expensive items
have contracts
are very confusing to operate to some

all in all, people dont appreciate what we have if you are not posting pictures to your social network site
Many think your wierd if your not texting away in a movie or not using your phone as a calculator or weight watcher.

I dont like smartphones or cell phones , I do have one, but in my opinion people need to start paying attention on the road and while walking down the street, it is becoming degrading to society that we have this tech craze where you need to be on an xbox or use paperless banking or use facebook to chat. Most do not even send letters anymore which is a shame .

Unlimited minutes, web, and texts. 45$ per month period! metro PCS
No contract

Used to have T-Mobile until I got fed up with having to wait to upgrade, fees, cancelation fees and all that nonsense.
My cousin is a manager at cricket, so I gave it a try. $40 a month unlimited everything and no contracts. Been with them ever since. Now they are offering the iPhone as well.
Lucky me that I have an at&t iPhone that I use that I am going to trade for a Verizon iPhone so I can use it with cricket instead of buying one from them. Think it's comes out to like $60 monthly for iPhones and android phones.

Nice! any limitations on international?? I have been eyeing an Iphone for awhile but certainly not going to pay 120$ vs. 45$ and have less services than I have now. If I could have the best of both worlds life would be good
