Looking for a detailer in Florida!!! Please Help!

PS: I currently don't have time to learn myself to detail unfortunately.

Sorry I missed this part when I replied yesterday...

The problems you see in your paint were caused by the misuse of a rotary buffer.

Moving forward, before letting anyone touch the paint on your car, ask them,

  1. What type of tool they are going to use?
  2. What type and brand compound/polish they are going to use?
  3. What types of pads they are going to use?
  4. What they are going to use for a wax or paint sealant?

Then simply post back here the answers and I'm confident our forum member will let you know if the person you're considering has or has not a clue.

:)

This community is awesome! I am so thankful to be a member here with such helpful members.

I am more then likely going ahead and letting Stephen (LuxuryMobile) work on my car. I will go ahead and ask him those four questions and will post back with the answers - however I am confident he can fix this due to feedback from other members.

Thanks again,
Dominic

Stephen's reputation is stellar, I'm confident he can create a customer pleasing finish.

And yes, the AGO community is awesome!

Here are the answers!

What type of tool they are going to use?
------------------------------------------------------
We have several dual action polishers that we will be able to use. Flex 3401, Griots DA, Porter Cable XP. We will most likely use the Griots DA but may use a combination of the Flex and Griots. These machines are much safer and finish much nicer than a rotary buffer, which looks like what your previous detailers were using.

What type and brand compound/polish they are going to use?
------------------------------------------------------
We will most likely use Meg #205, and Menz 85rd. It shouldnt be necessary to use Meg #105 or Meg Ultimate Compound but these are things we will find out when we do a test spot.

What types of pads they are going to use?
------------------------------------------------------
We will be using a combination of Lake Country Flat and CCS pads most likely. If necessary we also have the Meg Micro Fiber pads, again we will dial in a process during our test spot. We also have different sizes to get to the hard to reach areas.

What they are going to use for a wax or paint sealant?
------------------------------------------------------
You can choose from several different options. We have Wolfgang Fuzion, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, DP Policoat, Collinite 845, and several more. We can recommend which to use based upon how your car is used and stored, or you can choose which ever you prefer.

Good answers and the tools, pads and products all have an excellent track record for show car results.

After he does the work though it will be your job to maintain the results.

If you want to maintain a nice finish on a black car you can't simply take it to a car wash and hope the paint to stay swirl free, the two best options are to take ownership of the car washing process, that is carefully wash and dry your own car or hire Stephen to regularly maintain your car's finish.

Good to hear!

I'll be active on this forum and will learn a lot more about washing my own car properly and I am looking forward to it. :)

Thanks again! I can't wait to get my car fixed.

Here is the outcome: (a fantastic one, at that!)
I ended up choosing Stephen (LuxuryMobile) for the job, and I am VERY IMPRESSED.

They solved all my issues that I thought were impossible to fix.
Stephen was my 4th detailer that I went to for fixing this issue I've had since March 2012.

Not only was he confident in fixing it, I was also confident that he could do it and wasn't afraid of seeing the outcome unlike the other 3 detailers I've went to.

My entire car is not only looking brand new, it looked BETTER then what my car looked like when I purchased it brand new last August. I am completely satisfied with the outcome and I will be making him my main detailing guy and recommending all my friends that need their cars done to him as well.

Here is an example of a 50/50 shot on how my hood looked:

HUGE difference.. now I can enjoy my vehicle again and not worry about how my car looked due to the disaster the other detailers left me.

Thank you again AutoGeeksOnline, and even more thanks to Stephen for making me love my car once again!

That's the POWER of of discussion forums!

Helping people in one way, shape or another... in this case finding a qualified Pro that knows what he's doing.

Like I always say,

Detailers that hang out on forums like AGO know more than Detailers that don't.
And it shows in their work.

Thank you Dominic for the follow-up, it is very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot! I also want to give a special thanks to RaskyR1 for assisting me with all my questions on another forum which lead me here to get in touch with Stephen.

Thanks for posting this follow up Dominic.

It was a pleasure working on your ride. This is the first Genesis I have worked on. I knew that they were nice but now I have a new appreciation of these. If you haven't been up close and personal with one, they are great!

I will go through all the pictures we took and put together a write up. This car finished out excellent. I was very happy with the results.

That's class.

Anyone that's read my posts over the years knows I'm a huge fan of giving due credit to where credit is due. Part of the reason for this is because I find articles I've written plagiarized by others all over the Internet with no reference to the writer.

So anytime someone else gives due credit where it's deserved my hat is off to them...

Chad's original post to help out Dominic,

Need a reputable pro in the Daytona beach area
