Hey guys,
I used to consider myself a decent detailer until I started reading these forums. The info is awesome.
I have one question for you that I didn't really find an answer to in the book or on the forum (I gave up the searching after about 2 hours). I've purchased a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It had been without a rear window for 3-5 months. So the rear seat is a mess with staining (gray color). As much as I love to get one, I can't afford a Mytee to try and remove the stains. Is there another particular cleaner/equipment that I can try? Or if you know where the threads are with this info and can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks again

Does your supermarket or hardware store have a rental carpet cleaner with upholstery attachment? That will do just fine.

I know they have carpet cleaners, but I'll check on the attachment. Thank you Scuba

Many can't dish out the money for a profession hot water extractor. A nice option is the Bissle Little Green Machine. It's only $100 and does a good job from the results I have seen on here. Personally I have a steam cleaner and it works great. But I really want a LGM.

Check out this thread by forum member Dugdug. He explains his method and results.

Thanks rider.

What about the cleaning agents? Any particular type/ brand?

I have used Folex with great results. Its cheap and available locally at HD. Others used a APC diluted to the proper ratio

What exactly is Folex? I did a search on the AG store and it comes back for Flex polisher, polishes, and waxes. Is it listed as something else:confused:?

Its a carpet stain remover. AG does not carry folex. Home depot sell a 32oz bottle for about $7. Available in different retail locations depending on the state a quick glance at their website will tell you some retailers in your area. Homedepot has it for sure

Thanks man. And an awesome job on the WRX interior

ive used folex without an extractor and it works awesome. im going to splurge on the bissel soon enough, but im sure it will make the folex even better!

For those using the Bissell how much Folex are you putting into the tank? Or are you just spraying the Folex on carpet and brushing it then using the warm water from the Bissell to suck it up?

Don

Put hot water in the tank, hot water only.

Spray the cleaner onto the surface, let it sit a bit and scrub with a brush.

Then you extract with the machine/hot water. You might have to repeat once or twice on those bad stains.
