Wheel Protection -- Need advice

How do you protect your wheels? Do you apply a sealant? A coating?

Which coatings and selanats do you prefer? What is your experience with durability and frequency of reapplication?

I just used 4*UPP on the wheels in connection with my full detail. The wheels look good and application was easy, but I am not sure about durability to weather/normal driving and to tire cleaners such as ARO.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!!

OptiCoat is the best for wheels. In order to get o professional result, you must pull the wheels from the car and they must be very clean.
 
4* isn't know for its durability. I think it will vanish quite fast (and if you use harsh cleaners, even faster!).
Your best bet is a coating.
 
I like using PB wheel wax. HAs worked suprisingly well. 4 coats and its been about 5 months and I can still clean the brake dust off my MINI coop with just soap and water and let me tell you any car ade by BMW dust like crazy.
 
x2 for opti-coat.

totally worth the effort required to remove the wheels and clean completely to prep for coating. remember, whatever defects are on the wheels when you coat will be there after the coating, so get them as nice as possible prior to treatment.

i have my STI BBS wheels coated with 2.0 and they are incredibly easy to clean and protected well. my problem is that they accrue dust so quickly, especially after washing when the rotors oxidize, but like i said at least they are easy to clean and protected.
 
If I don't remove my wheels from the truck but clean them well will opti coat still apply and work correctly ?

yep. just have to make sure there is absolutely nothing on the surfaces which you intend to apply opti-coat. no grease, oils, wax, sealant, water/moisture, dirt...anything. prep is paramount.

naturally if you don't take the wheels off you'll still be susceptible to tar and grime sticking in the inner wheel barrels. there is nothing like clean barrels!!! haha
