Hi,
anybody have experience with the Lake Country Hybrid Power Finish Pads (white version and black) VS Meg DA Microfiber Finish Discs?

I'm awaiting my Flex 3401 delivery and bought some Lake Country CCS pads (red, white, blue) and the black and the white LC Hybrid pads.

Now considering the Meg Microfiber Finish Discs.

Worthwhile or just stick with the LC CCS and Hybrid pads??

I'll be working on cars with very good paint quality, needing minor swirl work at most.
Looking for best combo for getting that perfect base before sealant.

Thanks

I would stick with the CCS and Hybrid pads. I haven't seen good words on the MF discs on the 3401 VRG as they are too grabby.

From experience, foam pads buff or "move" over painted body panels better than microfiber pads specifically when using the Flex 3401 Forced Rotation Dual Action Polisher.

Also from experience and testing via chemically stripping black paint after buffing, foam pads offer less risk of micro-marring or DA Haze or Tick Marks, (different names for the same defect), than microfiber pads.

:)

I didn't find that MF pads are too grabby on a Flex 3401, but they do need some serious cleaning after each panel (much more than with a non forced rotation DA) and imho you need to change them for a new and fresh one after every other panel. Worked with the cutting discs on speed 4 without any pressure beside holding the machine to the paint and so far it worked out good. Finished my car with a foam pad afterwards though.

I take it you meant MF pads

Yes. I fixed it. :D

I'm going to try the new Rotary Buffer Microfiber pads out on the Flex 3401 because the thicker foam interface makes a HUGE difference when using microfiber pads on a rotary buffer.

I personally did not like the feel at all of the thinner microfiber pads on either the Flex 3401 or the Rotary Buffer, but Eric sent us a series of test pads that used thicker foam for use with the rotary buffer and it removed all the grabbing and hopping characteristics. With the thicker foam interface the pads glide over the paint.

:xyxthumbs:

thanks for the help.

I'll stick with the Lake Country CCS and Hybrid pads for now.

If the Megs MF pads require cleaning more often (like after every panel)
then that's a big negative for me.

If you don't have the mf pads already, then don't buy the Meguiar's MF discs for the 3401. I just used them, because i already had and wanted to try them.

Buy them if you have a PC or a Griots DA or similar and need more cut than you can get from foam pads.
