Is there a best practice for folding clay? I just keep folding until it looks new again.

Clay is not cheap, so I use my spray lub (car soap) and a tooth brush to clean the clay before folding in a new section. Clay will last twice as long.

This sounds like a nice tip! I will make sure to do this when using clay.

BF clay cleaner is great, really extends the life of your clay. Makes a great pad cleaner as well.

not sure about cleaning pads but I agree it makes clay last much longer

You could, but most of the crap just falls off when spraying. You could have a small bucket of soap and water to scrub and rinse with, but it's a pain moving it around. Your already using the spray lub so it's not a problem.
Do you rinse with water after scrubbing the clay?

last night I wore rubber gloves...I hate picking it out of my fingernails the next day..

is that okay?

Why are you getting clay under your fingernails? Are you a female? Keep your three fingers flat on the clay.:xyxthumbs:

I always wear gloves when I clay. The Griots clay I use tends to get really sticky, so it saves me from muck on my hands. Plus, I don't want the chemicals of the lube or any other detailing product on my skin. I'm extremely health conscious, but it also helps to keep your hands clean so you can eat finger foods later without your fingers and the food tasting like chemicals. Even when you wash them, it doesn't all come off.

Fold over and stretch out, fold over and stretch out, fold over and stretch out until it's clean.....:props:
