Funny mishap today
Parked the corvette on race ramps
In gear
Parking brake on
(didnt chock the front wheels)

Jacked up the back. As soon as the rear tires left the ground the jack and car rolled back off of the race ramps.

I was pushing the rear of the car to stop it and hopefully not hit the garage.

The tire and wheel seemed to have made the most contact.
The body was about 1mm from the wall!

Already fixed the wheel/plastidip with paint thinner, smoothed it out, respray that area

Never thought about chocking the front wheels as it sits on the ramps. I will from now on

I have an exhaust least. That is why it was on race ramps to begin with

Corvette sounded way louder today

The x pipe clamps came off on the rear on one side. After this all went down I decided to deal with that later on :-)

Glad the car is ok but more importantly glad you’re ok and decided to leave it for another day.

Wow glad ur ok but thanks for posting this. We need to see this to make us all safer. Ive had many times since my driveway is gravel. I jack vehicle up and throw jack stands under and let jack down and sometimes i can watch it start to go and its just a stand back and watch and a o crap moment. So even jack stands can be problematic. Ive also been working on a car on stand wheels off and had it shift and almost take out my legs. Needless to say i shake vehicle now once on stands just to be sure and i use flat blocks under stands so it doesn’t tip or sink in gravel.

You put something behind the tires so that just in case the car starts rolling whatever you put there will stop it. They make items just for this purpose just google "wheel chock"

Used 4 jack stands instead of ramps
Got the x pipe clamp replaced with a much wider clamp

Man, I’m glad you’re OK and all is well. Have you ever considered Quick Jacks? I have some and love the piece of mind using them. Car is up on them now and has been since Thursday...installing another aftermarket intercooler and was missing a part. Safe, stable and pretty easy to use.

Is the middle of the car accessible? For exhaust work etc? I feel like the middle is blocked off from what little I know of about quick jack

Much better, Dave!

If I could suggest just one thing, it would be to use some cement blocks and wood to put under the frame/axles while it's up on the jack stands if you are working under the car. You don't even need to make contact. Just enough to come within an inch or so.

As sturdy as the jacks may be, you know if anything bad happened, the cement/wood combo would never, ever fail.
