That's correct - I bought it for $54.99 and since I had a coupon, got a free set of Pittsburg screwdrivers. They aren't great, but I now have a dedicated set of screwdrivers for detailing, so I'm happy.

Anyway, hand tools have a lifetime warranty, and power tools have 90 days WITH RECEIPT. Now to find a decent backing plate and starter set of pads...
If you look through this post you can find out a lot.I would also consider buying some MF pads and some Turkish lambs wool pads to mix in. Im just waiting to slip a few of those two into my collection.

In some equipment the hole where the BP is screwed into
may not be deep enough so you would use another washer.

Just my guess.

I picked up the HF DA polisher yesterday, along with 2 polishing pads. I had a coupon for 25% off and another one for a free flashlight. I spent a total of $58.82. Not bad.
Harbor Freight sends out coupons monthly in the Val-Packs that we get here in the Cleveland area. I have about 6 coupons left to use before the beginning of the next year.

I have un packed my last HF DA, I noticed if you grab the backing
Plate and try to move it up and down, it should be solid and not move, this is not true of my new one. There fore it will vibrate

I will be returning itFeed back please

Wonder where you heard that??Im the MAN :xyxthumbs:

Hmmmmmm I wonder. Friggin guy. I actually didnt know if i should say who told me or not. Just in case you know. Who knows these days don't want any haters hating for no reason. Since I trust your opinion very much so. You DA man bra !

Up and down in what way. Like <-> 0|. Or ^ v 0|

If that kind of paints the picture meaning the 0| is the polisher

up and down like the bearing is loose, grab the outer edge of the BP, this one moves bottom to top or top to bottom

I un packed it and installed the new 5" BP and spun the plate that is when I observed the wobel, I then installed the rginal BP and two others with the same problem. I have two others without this problem.

It seems as if Harbor Freight gets a lot of returns. When I was in line 3 people in front of me were returning items. Just remember, It's not their fault, they don't make the products they sell.

Hi..

Does the counter weight need to be changed if working with different size plates..

3, 3 1/2 or 5 inches

mike

Anyone run theirs with a small size backing plate for 4" pads without added vibration? Got mine the other day and it had no vibration with the stock 6" backing plate. I had a small 2 7/8" wide backing plate for use with 3"-4" pads I tried on it and it vibrated like mad with and without the counter weight. I'm thinking a 3.5" wide backing plate for 4" pads use may help but just wanted to see what others have found in terms of small backing plates for 4" pads and vibrations and what backing plate works well.

So who's fault is it? You expect the factories to produce a premium high quality product for the cheap price that American companies are paying them?
Companies set a certain price point for the product that they sell. Then "You get what you pay for" goes down the whole chain (including QA) all the way to the raw material suppliers, right?

The weight isn't supposed to be changed for anything smaller, you should be good to go. I have mine ready to run with a 2 7/8 backing plate and 3" pads. I'll test it out this weekend. I believe someone else here did swap it out.

Up date on my HF DA with loose shaft, they replaced it with out any question . Only needed my receipt. :buffing:

Used some 3" mf and foam pads thus weekend, no problems.

Adding additional grease will cause the unit to run cooler and quieter.

Just got the email with coupons. The polisher is on sale again for 54.99.

You can use it just fine out of the box. Re-greasing will make it a little quieter and maybe run a little cooler. Its good to go just as it comes to you.

Don't even plug it in! ABSOLUTELY! You will be glad that you did.

Not sure if yoru trying to be funny or not.

@ Mikesal57 Works great out of box as stated by others. all mods noted on page 46 and maybe a few b4 that. also pictures on how to add a longer cord to it in a listed link. or look for HF cord upgrade by me.

as long as you ditch the original backing plate, you should be G2G!
