One word....

AWESOME!

Love how you focused on the toy car as it was reflected in the door and then backed the focus out...

And the water beading, showing waterproofing was over the top.

Gtechniq makes some very good products, I know I've been impressed.

Thanks Mike!! :thankyousign:

The flat panels on the Jeep helped make that shot work. It seems to be everyone's favorite part!

What products did you use? You totally got me in that reflection too. I was quite amazed!!!!

Thanks for the comment!

Before polishing I used IronX and Meg's medium clay then an IPA ~12% wipe down.

You may not believe this but this was essentially a one-step correction. I used the Flex DA with LC 5" & 6.5" Hybrid Light Cutting pads and LC 4" CCS Orange pads with a Porter Cable for tighter areas. Both machines used at a MAX speed of 5 (I never hit 6) I used Menzerna SIP, some areas I had to go over twice. (you can see in a shot off the hood there were a lingering swirls after the first section)

I've been learning recently that it's not all about the products. While products do help tremendously, technique is what gets real results. Technique and LOTS of patience. Was this vehicle "perfect" when I finished it? No, absolutely not. 1. This will be daily driven and probably won't be taken care of very well 2. It's not a show car. (Though could probably win a show on cleanliness)

For protection I used (as mentioned) EXO for the paint, glass, wheels and the plastic windows on the vinyl top. I used Gtechniq i1 to protect the interior & top. I did remove all of the interior except for the front seats to clean, it's awesome how easily the carpet pulls out of Jeeps. For the trim & fenders I used Gtechniq C4. For the tires I used undiluted CarPro PERL.

Most important of all though is that I had tremendous fun while detailing this Jeep. It makes me laugh thinking of how clean & highly protected this incredibly average vehicle is.

I am hoping to have Dream Detail licensed and insured by the end of the year.

Very very nice! :dblthumb2:
Just one remark: it is "hydrophobic" and not "hydrophic" :props:

The color is awesome, I was surprised how easy this paint was to work with too. Thanks :D

Absolutely one of the coolest detailing videos I've seen to date. Good job on the videography! Your jeep looks immaculate! I've been using Wolfgang Gang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant on my garage queen and my family cars with great success (I'd say about 6 months durability on my garaged Audi R8 and 3-4 months on our daily driven cars exposed to the elements and UV).

But, fill me in on EXO. The beading appears to be much more pronounced from what I get with Wolfgang. Of course, lets assume that the paint has been properly cleaned and prepped, otherwise its useless to even discuss durability and beading.

I like Wolfgang 3.0 sealant, but not too crazy about the 45 minute setup time required before buffing off.

I've used Optimum Opti-Seal before, but I didn't like the oil- streaky nature of the product. It almost looked hazy and like a residue was left on the car, even after buffing and a QD spray.

So, I'm thinking about trying EXO. Let me know if you had any issues with oil residue or streaking.

thanks bud,

george

The beading with EXO is not even comparable to sealants IMO. Not only does it bead better and more consistently but you can apply this to any surface and achieve the same beading. Also, the self-cleaning nature of EXO means when you rinse your car you will see dirt start to accumulate inside of the beads. You can see this in this video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu7qR1jNA-k&feature=g-crec-u]2011 Lincoln MKS EXO Update - YouTube[/video]

I like Wolfgang 3.0 sealant, but not too crazy about the 45 minute setup time required before buffing off.

EXO applies very very thin and is wipe on and then wipe off instantly. However, you must let the vehicle sit for at least 6 hours before introducing it to elements. Also, the surface temperatures must be 68 degrees or more before applying and while it is curing. However, this process is well worth the time. Gtechniq claims EXO lasts about 5 years or 600 washes. (Their tests saw no significant diminishing of beading after 600 washes)

I have not used Opti-Seal before but have used other traditional sealants. Again, EXO really does not compare to them, it is in a league of its own IMO. You apply 2 coats 30 minutes aparty and there is no oil residues or streaking involved. It is extremely easy to apply. The big part with EXO is, as you mentioned, the prep work. Not even IPA or Eraser is strong enough to prep the surface before application. You must use a chemical stripper like Gtechniq's Panel Wipe.

Thank you for the compliments and inquiries!!
