Black Light advice.

If you look in youtube and do a search typing: chemical guys winter, theres a series of videos showing you how to prepare your car for winter. The steps the spokesperson for cg uses are the following:
1. jetseal
2. blacklight
3. celeste dettaglio(in this case pete's 53)
4. v7

I go to the CG warehouse about once a week. I have brought up this question plenty of times. best way is

Blacklight=> Jetseal/sealant or Wax of choice or even both(overkill)=> V7

followed by V7 after every wash

Jetseal on top of Blacklight huh? Will that affect the bonding of the jetseal?

If it doesn't then that's awesome since Blacklight has some cleaning abilities in it.

BlackLight can be apply over or under the sealant. I believe it is best to apply it by hand if it is over a sealant. I normally apply it with a DA so it goes under the sealant.

I tried it as an AIO on a brand new BMW 7 series once with great results.

2 coats of BlackLight ( 1st with a DA , 2nd by hand) followed by V07.

What a beautiful wet look you got. That's awesome! The black is soo wet-looking. And you can even see the reflection of that tower in the hood of the Porsche. If it makes silver look that good, I'm sure it will make my dark grey look great!

Looks great.

I am going to detail my G35 this weekend. My updated process will be....

Blacklight w/ Hexlogic Blue Pad via PC
Jetseal by Hand
V07

Should be good for winter =D

I might do carnuba on top of jetseal but who knows.

I tried applying Jetseal by hand a while back (to see if there was a difference in performance from a DA). I saw no difference so use the DA and save some time. :xyxthumbs:

Sorry to change the topic, but those of you who have used jetseal, how does it perform? Ever used it on glass? Wheels? Just ordered some and wondering about performance

Was there any curing time between each coating?

I wanted to try 2 coats of BL followed by a carnuba wax.

good advice, thanks for the tip!

I'll apply Blacklight with chemical guys blue hexlogic pad then jetseal with black pad.

I hope it turns out super good.

20-30 minutes is what CG recommends for each coat. I let it sat for about an hour each. I worked on the interior and the rims (polishing) while it was curing.

I did the 3 series back in June. The car was washed every 2 weeks religiously. The car still has tight beading the last time I washed it. I routinely lay down a layer of sealant on the windows while I am doing the body. I noticed the sealant works better if you clay the windows prior. This will give JetSeal a better bond. I never tried it on the rims because I use a dedicated wheel sealant to repel brake dust...... especially the dreaded "BMW Brake-Dust".

Please take this with a grain of salt.......
There are many factors that determine the final performance of the product (ie garage vs outdoor, weather condition, environmental pollution, etc). The 3 series resides in the San Francisco Bay Area ( garaged, mild temperature year round, relatively good air quality). Your experience might be different.

Post some pics after you are done.....Happy :buffing:

ahhhh. so confused, so many different ways to use it! Anyone put it over a current sealant such as WGDGPS 3.0? Curious as to whether or not it will strip the layers off since it has some abrassives in it. Just did a full detail with 2 layers of it dont want to strip it but I cant wait to try my blacklight.
Feed back please

i think its ok to us Black Light on top of WGDGPS 3.0. On a video made by CG they put Jet Seal first then Black Light by hand, if you use a machine to apply Black Light, then it would act like a fine polisher.

Yep...by hand or with a soft DA pad, the abrasives do not come into play.
