Up Close & Personal: Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner

Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner is one of six new Wolfgang products that was introduced late last week. Of these six new products, three of them are all about pad care.

NEW Wolfgang Products

Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner is an intense cleaner that breaks up and emulsifies caked on polish, compound, and even wax residue from all buffing pad types - foam, wool, microfiber, and more. This heavy-duty cleaner rinses freely and doesn't leave any residue in the pad that could be reactivated next time you use it with a compound, polish or wax.

Pad Cleaning - Essential for Compound/Polish/Wax Performance

Cleaning your pads during ("on the fly") and after every use is critical to their performance. As you polish paint you have spent product, carrying agents, abrasives, solvents, silicones, chemical cleaners, and more, all gunking up the pad. It's critical to remove all of the above from your foam, wool and microfiber pads after each use because they can adulterate the polish, compound or wax that you use with the pad at a later date, changing its polishing/protective characteristics.

Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner is simple to use: First, start off with a collection of dirty pads.

Spray a liberal amount of Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner directly onto the pad and allow it to penetrate for 2-3 minutes.

Agitate the cleaner by using your hands or a Foam Pad Conditioning Brush. Thoroughly massage the cleaner into the pad to ensure all caked in compound, polish or wax residue is broken up and released.

Next, thoroughly rinse the pad under a strong stream of warm water. Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner rinses freely and doesn't leave any type of unwanted residue in the pad.

Once you've cleaned and rinse all your pads, blot them with a clean, dry microfiber towel. This will remove any excess water from the pad.

Check out the pads after being cleaned with Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Clenaer. You'll notice the pad in the bottom right still has a red/pink tint to it. This is staining from the AIO (All-In-One) that was used with it. While the discoloration is still there (nothing will remove that), the AIO has been completely removed the pad, leaving it ready for future polishing action.

Always store your pads face down (backing material UP) in a well ventilated area. A Grit Guard Insert works great to dry your pads on because any excess water will drip down and have a place to fall.

Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner effectively breaks up and releases caked on compound, polish and wax residue from all pad types. It will not compromise the foam's composition because its cleaners were strictly formulated to dissolve compound, polish and wax residue.

Did you drop the small 3" blue pad in the mud? Wolfgang pad cleaner cleaned them all up nice.

I actually used the 3" Cyan pad with Meguiar's D300 on my headlights this past weekend. It was the closest thing to me and it actually worked surprisingly well. :)

Wolfgang Pad Werks Pad Cleaner & Extender can u explain the difference between the two products?

Wolfgang Pad Werks Pad Cleaner & Extender has mild cleaners and conditioning agents in it. It will clean pads too, but not as well as the dedicated pad cleaner, Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner. :dblthumb2:

How does this compare to the XMT pad cleaner? I have a couple bottles of it and feel it works well. Im going to put them into a different sprayer tho, pump sprayers dont work well when your hands are wet, i keep almost dropping them.

Wolfgang Pad Werks Polishing Pad Cleaner is more effective at breaking up and releasing waxes/sealants/AIOs compared to Pinnacle XMT Pad Cleaner. This is due to a more advanced blend of cleaners as opposed to just raw cleaning power, which the Pinnacle XMT Pad Cleaner is known for.

These were some nasty pads, Nick showed them to me before he cleaned them and I have to say I am even impressed! Great review Nick!
