how do you like those carpro products? I've been thinking about it for myself. And it looks like the truck was used as a truck. As it should be.

Compared to the Meg's Medium Clay I had been using for a long time, they're amazing. The block definitely works faster than clay and it's nice to have a machine do most of the heavy lifting on the larger spots. I ordered them the day before Nanoskin was put on the AG site. I would like to have had the choice of fine or medium grade because this truck would definitely need medium (or aggressive if they made it) In the next few weeks I may get the Nanoskin products and the Speedy surface prep towels and do a write up on how they all compare.

If I were to guess how long Meg's Medium Clay would have been on this truck it would be about 7 hours. So these products saved me about 3 hours.

& up for today will be a test panel to see if we can get some gloss out of this swirly mammoth :buffing:

Well guys, looks like I'm going to have to fold 'em. I removed the chrome trim from around the fenders because the owner was going to replace them. This is what was underneath:

Waiting on a call back from the owner... :(

Sad day guys

Though, on a lighter note, my next vehicle will be on the opposite end of the size spectrum. A 2006 Porsche Cayman S in Arctic Silver Metallic.

**Update**

The owner finally came by today to look at the rust spot. He says he wants me to continue and the new chrome covers will cover that up.

It's not what I would have chosen personally but it looks like i'll be back to work this evening on a test spot!! :buffing:

:dblthumb2:

I'll upload some pictures later on tonight

Here's a short video clip of a test panel...

Another update on the truck. I finished the compounded stage last night heading into the 18th hour of work. Today I will go over a few spots again but there will still be quite a few RDS. The turn around will still be quite impressive but I don't think the owner would alot me another 5 hours to try and remove all/95% of RDS.

What are you charging him if you don't mind me asking? hope you make out on it good!

Right now my rate is $30/hr which will probably go up starting next year. My original estimate was 30 hrs, but has been revised up and I'm still not sure how long it's going to take. I am trying to keep it under 40 hours but we'll see how it goes. :buffing:

Taking a break from the paint to do some metal polishing...

You never realize how much area these trucks have until you do a full detail on one yourself. Takes a lot of time! Nice truck and nice work so far!

More polishing, the paint correction is finished, I might get to EXO application tonight.

Nice work underneath, on top, and all over. I like the shots of the undercarriage being thoroughly cleaned and adding the power washer into the mix was the right way to go under there.

These trucks jacked up like that make it a real bear to work on because of having to constantly move the step....

A lot of work and the saga continues.... :props:

I'm thoroughly impressed. Way to go! I detailed 2 boats and decided to stick to cars thereafter because of the amount of polishing they required.... and they were probably not much longer or bigger than this truck..plus you're getting into the crevices of the undercarriage, (and doing the interior?). Props to you I'm so psyched to see how this comes out. Too bad about the owner putting chrome on top of the rusting spots :/
