Had this client referred to me from another client who's viper I recently did a quick wash/wax and who is also scheduled for a full correction and opti-coat in the next few weeks. Anyway, the car is going to an auction today so he needed a last minute clean up or a "wipe down" as he stated. Upon arrival and looking the car over I noticed a few things... Single stage paint that was starting to show its age in some areas, and a car that needed a clay treatment very badly. So, then I learn this car was owned by Bob Seger...very cool! Added a T56 and vintage air! A true driver of a car! Anyway, onto the process/pics.

Wash/Decon:
  • ONR Wash with pre soak of every panel
  • Medium Speedy Prep Towel (imagine the sound of sandpaper being rubbed against paint...this baby needed it)
  • Wheels were cleaned with ONR as they were in great shape
  • Tires cleaned with APC 5:1 - no dressing per client
Wax:
  • Meguiars Xpress Wax

Interior:
  • Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer
  • Stoners Invisible Glass
  • Interior dry brushed and vacuumed

Thanks for checking it out

Just love it when some real American muscle shows up!! :coolgleam:

Gorgeous!! :props:

I forgot to add this is #42 of the few that were built. Original block but the rest has been restored.

Beautiful car and great work.

There is something so right about seeing Texas plates on a Shelby.

Didnt see much in the way of paint correction products but that paint looks NOTHING like you described it to be (bad condition) man your wash and wax works MIRACLES.

Beautiful car! I expected the paint to be trashed based on the description. This thread is going to get a ton of views - everyone loves a Shelby! If you hear what price the car auctioned for please fill us in.

I couldn't agree more!

You're right. No correction on this lady. The rear driver quarter and front clip had some cracking of the paint. If you look at the picture of the car up close on the passenger front clip near the stripes you can BARELY see a spot where he asked me to touch it up. Not my choice but he just wanted it hidden and that it was.

Beautiful car, great work!
Thanks, Mark!

I'm waiting to hear back! I will keep you posted.

As I mentioned the car came from Bob Seger and was featured in the Henry Ford Museum at one point. He was hoping those points along with how nice the car really is will bring in the right buyer and dollar signs.

What a gem!! Nice job and thanks for sharing the pics.

Good job man! Gotta love the '69 &'70 Mustang's! My father has been wanting me to detail his '69 gt350, but haven't gotten around to it.. But after seeing this, I think I might go do it this weekend. I gotta try those speedy prep towels too, do you think they're worth trying?

If you think the cost is too much for such a 'small' product, think again. This will pay you back ten fold with the amount of time saved and how easy it is to care for this product. I've refined my process to make things MUCH quicker and easier on me.

I do a pre-soak with ONR ANYTIME I'm doing an ONR wash. Previously, I would use a 32oz bottle and spray each panel to soak then go about my regular ONR wash. Now, I use a chemical sprayer filled with ONR solution as my presoak AND CLAY lube (I like to over dilute with this to really ensure I'm not marring or scratching the finish) so the application of the presoak takes a mere 5 seconds. Wash with a new long nap MF per panel, wipe dry, resoak and clay. Any way you slice this bread, it's the best investment I've made to my detailing arsenal.

I agree. The new technology is amazing and though the initial price is steep, you save so much money in the long run. You don't have to worry about dropping it, it's quicker to use because you aren't constantly kneading it and it lasts so much longer than clay.

My newest method if I am in my shop, is to machine Nanoskin Autoscrub the large panels and use the Speedy Prep towel in all the harder to reach areas. I have retired my clay bars to wheels for the most part.

One of my all time favorite body styles.

And it still looks great.

Awesome car & nice work!

Do you know if it was at the MCA show in Mesquite last year?
