The redesigned 3rd generation Griot's Garage 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher is in stock!

Griot’s Garage 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher has established a reputation among detailers and enthusiasts for having the ability to remove just about any paint imperfection imaginable including water spots, swirls, oxidation and even light scratches! This is largely due in part to its powerful 7 amp motor that packs a whopping 850 watts of paint-polishing power. The smooth, powerful motor delivers low-end torque and a wide, 5/16” diameter orbit ensures uniform material removal. Griot’s Garage has once again raised the bar with the 3rd generation 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher that features superior ergonomics for an even smoother polishing experience!

Griot’s Garage carefully took into consideration its wide customer base when designing the 3rd generation 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher. Their goal was to make machine polishing less intimidating for those who are new to the hobby, while also making it a more pleasant experience for professional detailers who polish paint every day. Griot’s Garage has successfully conquered the daunting task of pleasing both the novice and the professional with their redesigned 3rd generation 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher!

Anyone that has used a 2nd generation Griot’s Garage 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher knows that power has never been a problem, so Griot’s Garage focused on redesigning the casing of the polisher to make it more comfortable to hold during extended polishing sessions. The adjustable handle is still there, but they added a rubberized grip to make it easier to hold on to. The housing now features molded hand and finger grips along with a domed, rubberized palm grip. The speed control dial and power switch were also moved to more convenient locations. All of these features add up to a significantly improved polisher that will surely inspire you to have fun in your garage!

So when Nick is missing I tend to know where to find him,
either in the garage, with new products or stealing soda
and food out of my office.
Today he is trying to walk off with the New Griots Polisher!

Feed back pleaseCan you use a 3in backing plate and if so do you need to change the counter weight? Or do I need to reconsider the PC, because the others are out of my price range.

Technically you can, but I wouldn't recommend using a backing plate smaller than 3.5 inches (4 inch pad). The machine is awkward and isn't as easy to control. This goes for the Porter Cable 7424xp too.

If you want to polish small, intricate body panels with a 3 inch pad, Griot's has you covered..

We're 11 days in from initial availability and no comments yet on this revised model?

The 3rd generation is surely better than PC 7424XP which is underpowered unable to spin 6.5" pads with a little pressure on it.I use it with 4" pads only.Over $ 100.00 in the trash.
Not ready to buy GG which seems not improved at all mechanically speaking.

I would, I got the GG second gen (same motor) and the difference is very much noticeable. I still wouldn't do 6.5" pads, but it works better than the PC with 5.5" pads

Thanks Nick, that makes a lot of since. This is probably a stupid question, so feel free to mock ;) but I'll mainly be doing a 2012 Nissan Frontier and a 98 civic and both have a few areas where you cannot place a 5 or 6 inch pad flat on the surface. So is overhang an issue? Thanks for your help!

Overhang can get messy. For the super tight areas, check out the Lake Country CCS Euro Hand Applicators.

hmmm ok thanks, missed that.

Thx hell spawn, I'll be using it for a hobbie so if the lack of power causes me to make a few more passes and go a little slower, that could actually be a good thing for my paint. It was a good read, so thx again!
