New Dodo Juice Products...

I wonder how the new nano coating will stack up against Cquartz, Gtechniq, OC, etc...

It seems as if the mainstream manufacturers are all coming out with their own coatings. I wouldn't be surprised if Meguiars, Mothers, or Chemical Guys came out with their own.

I'd not be surprised if it performed fairly similarly - everything I've read indicates that these coatings are all made by a couple of manufacturers in Korea and Japan (except for OC, which seems to be a unique formulation).

Meguiar's already has a coating - they just haven't released it in the US. Do a search for M188 Deep Crystal Coating.

That statement is VERY misleading...... How many of these coatings have you had your hands on and have become familiar with ?

I have used every coating available through the 3 webshops that i use in the United States and each of the 4 major coating manufacturers (some offering multiple different choices) that I have used have all had vastly different attributes. While chemically some may share the same active ingredient, the products are all very different and behave differently enough to make me come to the conclusion that they are not the same product.

Saying there all made my the same manufacturer is like saying all wax's and polymer sealants are the same. Its a very blanket statement.

For example, CQuartz is the only manufacturer that I know who has actively changed there formulations over the years to cater to customer demands. Like how they added the anti-calcium effect into there coatings to help solve the water spot problems that all these coatings have. (because theres no oil's in them to help them deal with minerals in evaporating water.)

Gtechniq is another example. Very independent company.

Because the chemical is sourced from the same place does not mean the product are the same.

Wow. I just did a google ("nano coatings automotive") search and found about 10 different companies offering their own version of coatings. It seems like this is the new thing.

I'm not saying they're exactly the same - I'm saying that they'll likely perform comparably. If you're not formulating and manufacturing your own product, just asking another company to manufacture to certain specifications, there is nothing preventing a different seller from asking the same company to do similar adjustments - especially if you don't own the formula for "your" product.

I agree that there are differences - I defer to your experience, and that of others, on that point, and definitely didn't intend to give the impression that there aren't - but I don't think any seller is going to spec a product and not ask for reasonable gloss, chemical resistance and durability.

(Oh, and funny that you mentioned Gtechniq - I've seen several threads on a few forums on how eerily similar EXO is to a product called Kancoat... :))

I don't say this to put down any particular seller or manufacturer - I'm just aware that the number of companies that are involved in actual chemical manufacturing are not as numerous as the number of companies selling products as their own. Heck, I own both BFWD and WGDGPS, and used to own MPL, and want to try 4* UPP - even after reading that they're all pretty similar to one another.

What is the difference between Iron Gloss and Infinity ?
Durability? looks? Why would I choose one over the other?
Looking for a quick answer heading out and don't have time to research.

I agree 100%!
These coatings are a quantum improvement from performance standpoints on paint, glass, wheels and plastics. Dirt release, mar resistance, etc,

please report your thoughts after use!

I did 2 coats on my DD, a Taurus, and 1 coat on a 2008 black explorer. Still about 1/3 of the 3oz bottle left.

I originally had intended to use it for high exposure areas like the roof, trunk, hood, maybe front bumper during bug season. After applying it to my hood, it looked so good, I just kept going.

It is rather thick, and you really need to apply as thin as possible. I used a P21S applicator.
Time consuming, but worth it. I thought the look was richer & deeper than BFWD. Beading was top-notch during a recent 1" downpour.

Only downside was when dry, a bit more dust than I expected. I will probably not be able to tell how durable, because I am not one of those guys that can go 5-6 months testing the effects. I'm the kinda nut who would top opti-coat probably..

It has been snowed on 3 times, salt, rain, a road trip too. Even dirty still looked good.

I'll probably save the rest and use it on my front bumper during the spring & summer to combat bugs, etc.

It is DoDo expensive.. $150+ for 16oz.. when you break it down.

My Taurus is Az. Beige metallic, a dull color, but quite a look from IG.
On black it looked like a shimmering pool of oil....

I'm looking forward to the new products and I hope AG will reconsider not carrying the 500ml size of BTBM (I might even consider the liter size) and the 500ml Born Slippy refills.

I would like to see the 500ml BTBM as well.

I wonder if the dodo guys will whip out something cool for the DF....
last year they had the creme egg wax....

I'm bringing some cash with me. I hope they bring some special goodies for us.
