BMW E46 M3 - Revived - 1st S&S!

[Charleston]

My first show and shine --This is a close friends father's 2004 BMW M3.

*He has owned it since new and rarely has it washed. Waxed maybe twice (As I found wax residue that was tough as diamonds)

*Car was covered in very hard water spots, salt etching, sqirls, RIDS (They live 1/4 mile from the beach). Headlights were hazed. The paint was very, very dull. Could barely see a reflection to make out a face.


Products used

1.Dawn soap
2. Iron-X on paint and wheels
3. Megs clay and QD
4. PC and Megs 5.5 MF cutting pads with d300 and spots of 105
5. White LC pad with UP
6. Finished up with BFWD
7. Opti-bond tire shine
8. Megs APC on interior and engine/Steamer


As it arrived.

After washing with DAWN twice I began to clay (This is after 1/2 of the hood

The after pics of the exhaust tips almost look like mini velocity stacks with the reflection!

Under the door handles are a pain to get all the scuffs away, makes me crazy, need to invent a tiny-micromini DA

I find M105 on a Microfiber towel and the 2 finger method works pretty quickly!

The Wagner unit. (Same as the McCullough). Was on sale at Lowes for $45

Bimmer looks great man! That paint was jacked up! This thread caught my eye because I also have an M3 but it is an E36 (1999). Then I saw the Gamecocks sticker and realized you're probably not far from me.. I'm assuming you live in Charleston? I live in Orangeburg.

Anyways, I've always been into cleaning my cars but just recently discovered AutoGeek and got serious about it. I thought it might be cool to meet some other detailers in the area and expand my knowledge. How old are you? (if you don't mind me asking) I'm 30.

Awesome job on the turn around!! Was looking at the water spots after claying and it looked like start of clear coat damage. Salt water can do some damage . All in all looks like a sweet ride now :drool:, your friend should be thrilled.
