Checked the weather yesterday and there was no rain for the next week... checked again today and it will rain tonight.

I was planning to wash my car later today but it will likely rain tonight into tomorrow morning. I was planning to install my mudguards tomorrow and wanted to clean the area that it will cover to reduce any chance of dirt rubbing against my paint.

Are there any advantages of washing it before rains? I havent washed it in a month and I have Opti-Coat. Or should I just wash the area the mudguards will cover and wash the whole car after the rain stops?

Lol just sit back and enjoy your day. Go take a bike ride. There is now point in wasting water.

Is freaking cold here in Houston today. At least to me.
And im scrubbing my tires, thanks to NTB putting some stinking tire dressing on my tuf shine coated tires -_-

I started washing my gar with 20% chance of rain. I'm not a lucky person so I kept washing/drying/spray detail during the light rain. Wife thought I was crazy. I lived it. Oh. And it was about 45 degrees and windy! But it eventually stopped raining and the car looked nice. GO FOR IT! IT'S YOUR PARTY!

I tell people; the fact it's gonna rain doesn't change the fact that my truck is dirty. I wash mine every Monday regardless the weather.

I wash in the rain. Still use the two bucket method. Rinse with the hose, not bothering to hook up my water filtration system. Then let it stand in the rain for half an hour or so. Then move it into the garage for drying. The rain water is "spot free" and at least as good as my filtered water. I used a dissolved mineral meter and it was two just as the rain started, one after about five minutes, and zero after half an hour. I guess that the rain washed all the crud out of the atmosphere.
And just before moving the car into the garage I dry myself off and put on dry clothes. Wouldn't want to get the interior wet.

And YES, my neighbors think I should be committed.

I washed mine yesterday, even though I knew we where getting snow today. I justified it by waxing it after, as I'm on a 30 day rotation of topping up my wax with another coat. Now the snow is sliding off super easy. One of the easiest ways to get your car 100% snow free is to spray it down with a pressure washer at the coin-op

To wash or not to wash, that is the question?
I guess it depends on your OCD degree...Fortunately, I can do it indoors and never had this dilemma, but the prospect of rain never stoped me from washing my cars.
I am more and more convinced that mental institutions should have a dedicated wing just for us...:dblthumb2:

Time for his Meds...........

Three area that I MUST clean after driving in the rain:

1)Glass. Nothing drives me insane like spotty glass/windshield.

2)Wheels. It's like washing hands halfway. The weather started it - I gotta finishing.

3)Lower panels: No better time then now, IMO. Makes cleaning the vehicle a whole lot easier later on.

All of the above even if it's going to rain the next day, or even having to go back out in the wet later on.

"I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this"
I'll wash the car in the garage even if there's a chance of rain

:iagree:

Depends on how bad you need the rain. If you're in drought conditions then by all means wash it. That's damn near a rain guarantee!!

Just look at it this way.. You wash just before/during rain, theres no need to dry! LOL

Uh... not that I speak from experience.. Or that Ive washed my car in the dark, because I dont have enough shade in the hot summer sun..

I washed mine yesterday knowing we would get 5 inches of snow today. However, I don't plan on driving until Wednesday so my car should stay relatively clean.

Don't know about you, but with the drought being so bad all I have to do IS wash my wifes SUV and it'll rain like crazy! Leave it dirty and it'll be weeks without rain, go figure....

:iagree: Sheepish grin....

Yeah...have done it several times..lol....:xyxthumbs:

We are more alike than different. I used to work nights as a young man and desired to have the cleanest shiniest car at all times. So often would wash in the rain, or just prior to.
Fast forward nearly 30 years later, I have no problem washing the Lac as the drops are falling. I pride myself on getting the last minute detail finished before the rain falls though.
But what gets under my skin are the passers-by who stop, roll down their windows and say something like, "Hey, you do know that it's raining?" I've got some cool caring neighbors.

 Blasphemy!!!
I will attempt to wipe it down unless it's futile.
