My Friend's Dakota. He received it from his dad who owned and neglected it for many many years. So much oxidation and contamination his Paint felt like sand paper. With the exception of a couple dents and deep scratches The paint looked darn near brand new underneath that nasty jacket of filth. After we finished it, he said it had more shine than his garage queened charger.:props: I used FG400 with a Surbuf, followed with ultimate polish(m205) and a white pad.

Great thread idea! I'll do a full write up on this one whenever I get the chance...

For now, a sample:

Wow, how did you manage to clean that? I had something like that once in the engine bay, and not even straight up OPC was touching it.

Nick and Dave I'm impressed. Those were some seriously dirty vehicles.

Megs APC+ @ 10:1, various brushes, steamer. All the body seams had stuff like this growing in it. You can see the mold/moss spores growing all over the paint in the first pic.

Sent from my LG-VM701 using AG Online

Oh that's mold! It looked like just really caked on dirt since there's SO MUCH of it.

Still, I wonder what to do when caked on dirt is just too much for even straight OPC? I guess metal polish would be the next step.

This is one of the biggest turnarounds I have ever seen :dblthumb2:[/QUOTE]

thanks it was a funny detail being in such horrific shape

Here's a 2013 Sierra, fresh from the factory... A DISO waiting to happen in most dealerships...
