hey guys! been a while since i posted on here but i wanted to know if any if you know a way to reduce vibration and maybe even the sound of the griot's garage 6" ROP 2nd generation.
i have the original 6" bp on and 6.5" ccs pads (barely used only like once) and then i have a 5" bp and 6 pads that i didn't use yet.. will the 5" bp make a lot less vibration then the 6"
anyways .. i got another question! how much quieter is the flex compared to the gg?
any input appreciated! thank you guys!

booo :( i may want to sell it and get the flex if the flex is a lot!!! quieter

I've personally never heard the gg but if it's anything like the megs or pc, then no the flex isn't much quitter than the gg

Ear plugs and anti-vibe gloves. It's a good rule of thumb for operating any machinery that creates noise/vibration.

I agree with this. Compared to my PC, the 3401 is just as loud. I think the 3401 is more of a higher pitched sound though.

hmm.. i should just make a sound clip of it... its a litttleeee like a pinch quieter than the pc from what i hear!
and boo... then the flex isnt a huge sound difference in what im looking for.

i think i may just listen to my new headphones (in ear bose ie2's) and i'll look for anti-vibe gloves!
thank you!

i dont know guys, but my flex is extremely quieter than my PC...and the Flex has almost zero vibration...im still not over the moon with the flex, but it is definitely a better made, high quality machine.

i can run my flex with no ear protection and hear my stereo...never with my PC.:buffing:

thats a good thing ^___^.....and im pretty sure because of the forced rotation!
what you mean not over the moon? whats the prob with it ?and thats german engineering for you! high quality!!
its justtt the price for me! considering im just going to polish and wax once a while and use gtech exo

in this video ---

they sound really similar and the flex barely had a difference that isn't major (it was made 2 years ago)

the flex seemed a lot quieter and the pc just sounded annoying and it was made 4 years ago! which one of these would you say is closer to accurate for the flex sound and pc sound users?

I would say from the first video the sound is accurate for the flex but my PC (which is not an XP like what is shown in the video) has a slightly deeper sound *slightly*.

The second video I'm not sure 'cause they are both running at the same time.

I will say this: using the PC I never noticed this but when using the 3401 it sometimes gets the attention of a nosey neighbor of the customer (if they happen to be outside) who hears it and comes over to see what I'm doing. It's happened 3 times all with different people and I can't say that ever happened with the PC. Not that it's any scientific proof of noise differences. :)

EDIT: Just want to add at lower speeds I'd say the 3401 is indeed quieter, but at say 5 or 6 on either one that is no longer the case *for me at least*.

ok so now i know and got an idea of what it sounds like!...hmmm.. still debating cuz read the last post i made on the first page.. i'll bother my neighbors once with the sound and then i won't for maybe 2 years!
and your saying the 3401 got the attention of the neighbor rather than the pc? hahaha i guess the 3401 catches people's attention!
and hmm... lower speeds for waxing would be perfect quiet!
i should make a sound video of the griot's!

well i think i had bigger expectations is all...tehre is nothing wrong with the polisher, but it isnt the be all and end all IMO.

i find it hard to get used to because it rotates counter clockwise for one...and i dont honestly believe that it corrects any faster than my PC. I agree it is smoother, and quieter, and has more power, but faster, i dont know about that.

I have yet to try it with the highly recommended 5" hybrid pads, but i cant imagine that will be the deal breaker for me.

ahh your right.. thats not a huge deal breaker for me... i mean yes its quiet smoother and more power.... but im only 17... is it really worth my saved up 180 (i have to sell my gg for 100 and then use a discount i got on so instead of 329 its 280) but 180 is really a lot to me for the polisher.. i still have to purchase the coatings and products

(already have the 5.5" pads abd 5" BP) with my gg

The Flex is not much louder than a PC or GG; but the vibration will be less for sure. The tradeoff is that the Flex is going to want to take you for a ride with the forced rotation and the power packed in a small design. Go with the Flex. You will NOT regret it.

oh wow i thought it would be a HUGGEE sound difference... but vibration i think i can live with! doesn't seem like a lot to me on lower speeds!
yeah i only had it for like a day then had to return it to pay for some other things... i got to plug it in and turn it on but i was not able to hear it in use under some load .. without load its pretty quiet
and ahh.. 180! isss soo much for me! im out of products except waxes and sealants... and i have pads but need more cutting products! thats a lot of product for me...D:<

What were your expectations? Counter clockwise rotation means it rotates into your body which should be easier to control. Is it harder than. a RB?

:iagree:

from everyones reviews and ravings, i thought it would be the rotary of DA's...which it may be, but im not there yet i guess...i dont find the exception cut and decrease in polsih time everyone raved about. like i said, i think it is a high quality machine, very quiet and virtually no vibration, but that is about it for me.

but im very experienced with my makita...i definitely find my rotary more comfortable and easier to use than my flex 3401...

i find myself using the machine like im a lefty to make it manageable...hehe..it is something ned flanders could have sold at the leftorium!!

I agree that for me the rotary is easier than the 3401 :) I learned on a rotary at my dad's body shop when I was a kid. I sometimes don't look forward to using the 3401, but I do *personally* find it corrects better than the PC. Everyone's experience is going to be different.

Where are you located? If you're near me, I'd let you demo mine so you can actually use it before making a decision. I'm sure others on here would do the same. :props:

Ha! I do too :)
