Hey, guys. New to the forum here... it's about time, really.

My name is Nick and I've got a 2007 Mazda3 in Galaxy Grey. Here are some pics that don't do it a whole lot of justice and I'll just give a short background on what I've done to it paint-wise.

Nice metallic flake...

These pics are from when I actually hand-polished the entire car and the paint was sealed with 3M Performance Finish. Since then it has been completely machine-polished, machine-glazed and I currently use Menzerna Power Lock sealant. That stuff gives a much warmer glow to the paint, I think. I'm sort of in between cameras at the moment, but I'll try to take some new pics of my car.

I put in around 10 hours of paint correction with my Porter Cable 7424XP and I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. For under 10 bucks a bottle, it does an insanely great job on paint that isn't very damaged. My paint was never trashed, just had your basic wash and dry scratches due to about 5 years of improper washing. I've always taken care of my car from the very day I bought it, but within the past 6 months or so, I've been learning so much about properly washing and drying my car and I've been putting more and more time into it. Hell, I think I could enter this thing into a car competition just based on the paint alone, lol.

Anyway, feel free to comment or ask any questions. I hope to learn new tips and techniques while on this forum.

Eh... it's warm, lol. I prefer the cool weather. Everyone around me has been bundled up like there's a snowstorm and I'm still running around in my shorts and short sleeves, lol.

Thanks for the car compliments. I really gotta take some new pics of it. Soon I'll have the Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze, so I want to use that and then do some more waxing.

Hello and welcome to Autogeek, nice color, looks good.

..and I can relate. As a recent (August) transplant to Orlando from Cincinnati, I have to say it amazes me how people bundle up around here when the temperature dips to 55. I'm sure I'll acclimate soon enough and do the same thing before long!

Anyway, welcome - great forum here!

My boss is from Cincinnati, too. He thinks it's funny when we say it's a little cold outside, lol. I do get a little chilly, but I'm constantly moving at my job that I don't have time to get cold, lol. Right now, I'm sweating just standing still.

Thanks for all the comments, guys! :) Can't wait to glaze my car and seal it once more and get some better pics of it. Will do as soon as she's done.

Not sure how I missed a intro post by a fellow Mazda owner. 3 is looking good!

Strange Cincinnati/Orlando connection here. I too moved to Orlando from Cincinnati in May. I hate the heat, but 72 and sunny in January is a nice change. Good thing is now you can take a road trip to AG and check out a Thursday makeover. I did it, and will do it again! Welcome to AG

I work in Lakeland, not too far from Orlando, lol.

I would love to visit AG. You can just show up and check out the place whenever?

Thanks, MiataBernie. My 3 fits like a glove. It'll be 6 years old in July and I honestly anticipate having it for many more years. It may outlast me... as far as looks go, lol.

I did a pretty big order and asked to just pick it up and let Mike know I was coming. He was extremely helpful, even gave me a beginners DA lesson on my car right on the spot. Awesome! Definitely worth the trip!

That's awesome. Mike seems like a cool guy. He's been helpful and informative on YouTube when I've asked questions on his videos. I think it's cool when the guy in the video is really talking back and forth with me. Shows they care about their viewers and customers overall. I've ordered only a few things from AG, mostly foam pads, and since I'm in Florida, as well, I get my stuff fast. I'd definitely make a trip down there one day. May have to arrange some vacation time. :D

That's right, you joined our forum, said you would come by and I invited you out to the garage for a couple of quick tips and techniques to get you started on the right path...

New (to me) BMW - any hope?

Hey Rob,

It was nice to meet you and spend a little time going over techniques for machine polishing. I really think the stains in your car's hood are pretty deep but if you massage them a little with your new Griot's DA Polisher you should be able to improve them enough to live with them while removing all the swirls.

And then you posted some follow-up pictures of the results you created...
