Not only did amazon deliver me a busted PC 7424xp for Christmas but on top of that I got ripped on a steam cleaner this week too! After debating back and forth and saving my pennies I decided to bite the bullet on a steam cleaner. I was going to order the vx5000 but then my cheap side of me decided to jump the bullet on a "working" eurosteam es2100 on Craigslist. I went to the dudes shop and he demonstrated the unit working... It retails for around $1400 and he was willing to let it go for $600. I worked him down to $280 and I parted ways. I cleaned the unit up and filled it w water and cleaned my oven microwave dishwasher and car engine on one tank. I gotta say the thing was awesome! Then the yellow light clicked on and I filled it up again and then it would not build up pressure. I took it apart and cleaned the valves and checked it over but can't get it to work.... Now I don't know what I should do w it! I can send it to them in Texas to have it fixed but not sure it's worth it.. They also said they would take it as a trade in for $250 if I buy a new one for $1395. What do people suggest? Should I just cut my loss and get the vx5000?

I would do it right this time around and get a product from a reputable reseller. Caveat Emptor

Now that's a bad week!

How long, and how much to fix? Fix is warrantied? Might be the best way to go if so. Unless of course you just have another $1400 burning a steam powered hole in your pocket. (I'm quite guilty of stuff like that myself btw) :)

What's everyone's feelings on the steam cleaner. This appeared to be a good industrial grade brand from my research. Who knows how long it was used before I got it or how long it sat. The warranty probably has long been void on this unit seeing they are only a year. The labor is $49 an hour but again they're is a large monopoly bc only they can fix it plus i have to pay to have it shipped .I am from Chicago and I could not find any steam repair guys in the area. I'm worried if I go and buy a vx5000 I'm going to run into the same problem down the road... As far as I can tell there is only one place on the net to get one. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the priors!

I've had quite a few issues with items purchased through Amazon but I'm not certain if it's Amazon or UPS....

Packaging is something Autogeek does better than anyone else and should give classes on it to everyone!

Hey, you took a shot and tried to save yourself some money. You bought an item that sells new for $1400 for $280 and it didn't work out and if you can trade it in and get basically what you paid for it it's not a bad deal... :props:

Really? I've ordered an entire toilet through Amazon with no issues. Nothing I have ever ordered from Amazon has had issues. Although I do agree with you that ag knows how to pack their stuff!

Did you opt for: amazon's "DIFY Network"...?

It'd be nice for the OP if it was available for
Steam Cleaner and PC7424XP purchases also?!?!

Its not that big and its not that heavy. If you drain the water and just ship the cleaner standard shipping should not exceed 30-40 dollars. It seemed to work well when you first got it on several jobs. sounds like you bought a working unit. The difference of $1145,00 leaves you a lot of room to consider a repair. Have you had anyone else take a look at it? Some of the upper end units have extended warranty on some of the parts, just food for thought. You got a heck of a deal on the unit and can afford to sink a few bucks into it. Just my OP.

Thanks, everyone in my life said it was a dumb purchase. Just trying to think of the best strategy... Really want a working steam cleaner for the biz. Anyone else use steam cleaners daily?

I use my vx5000 daily, it is worth every penny, comes in handy for so many things . Already paid for itself ten times over at least. Get one you wont be disapointed
