The good news is I found you guys! I've ordered the GG6 starter kit with the pads that come with it and I've picked up some Meg's UC, UP and Scratch X 2.0.. And I've also got a bottle of Collinite 845! After studying up here I truly feel like ill be standing on the shoulders of genius.. I've even got my old hood to do a test spot on and practice a bit!! :)

Feel free to wish me luck, make a suggestion or just tune in to see what a car salesman can do when he puts his energy and dedication into something!

Can't wait for my GG to arrive!!!

Should come out great!! Good idea to practice on the old hood first to perfect your technique!
Good luck :buffing: post the after pics too!!

Love the color combo. My favorite on those 4th gens. Can't wait to see the outcome.

First thing I've noticed is that I didn't actually buy any type of sealant, just a few different waxes! lol I'm still kinda undecided on the sealant/coating front, so I think I'll just try these waxes for now.. Wonder if Meg's #21 is available OTC?

And does anyone know if I can use a 3 inch backing plate on the GG6?

Meg's #21 is available at Napa in my area or the equivalent is NXT2.0 in more places. Looking foward to the after pics. Good luck.

Also, another dumb question: can I put Collinite on my plastic fender flares and caps and such on the Yukon and Wrangler?

Also, another dumb question: can I put Collinite on my plastic fender flares and caps and such on the Yukon and Wrangler?

I've put collinite on plastic trim with no wax residue issues. It even seems to darken the plastic.

Are the flares plain black plastic (ABS) like mud flaps or are they painted the same color of the car?
They are plastic... Same on the Jeep, in fact the plastic trim on the Jeep is half the exterior, if you count the top...

ive used 845 on black textured trim before and it worked good (WOWO), but eventually turned white..

use OC 2.0 if the trim is already in good shape, or cquartz Dlux if not so good...BUT prep it properly.
