Hi guys.. after much lurking and watching videos and reading . and more reading, I finally splurged and got my first order in.. from both AG and chemical guys (so happens they have a store here in my hometown and their prices were ridiculously cheap-compared).
could anyone please go over my list and tell me if I'm at a good starting point? I spend quite a bit of money but the way I see it, I paid less for all this stuff that I would have paid to have my and my gf's car detailed once. I'm looking to do paint restoration on both cars, and after that just use basic one step every two weeks or so (360xmt + wet diamond)

please feel free to shine in your recommendations. thank you :)

I wouldnt use the water blade. I've heard theyre effective but not worth the risk of getting debris caught under the blade.

Great list though

so I've read.. but im thinking of using it just to get the bulk of water from the roof, windows and hood before i use the waffle towel .. using no pressure at all. thnkx for replying :)

I would return the water blade and all of the v34, 36, 38 polishes. There are much better products to choose from and frankly, they are too overpriced.

Yup, use leafblower to get 'bulk' of water off then your guzzler :xyxthumbs: I used to use water blade but not anymore....plus once you 'correct' your paint, you will not want that coming anywhere close to your paint. It's great because the leaf blower gets alot of the water out of from between doors and behind side view mirrors.

remove jetseal, especially since you're getting a superior sealant -> bfwdps
that winter brew kit is junk unless you just want to work with more products, its very obvious they're just clearing inventory lol..

My best suggestion is:

1) Buy a few items at a time. I know this because I'm a newbie too and buying this stuff all at once will have you ready to 2nd mortgage the house or end up working two jobs to pay for it. LOL

2) Be careful with microfiber towels (buying them can be very additive). LMFAO.

Have fun and see you in the forum post.

i paid $17.45 for each of those 3 .. total was $52.35. could you please recommend something else? i have a chemical guys store pretty close by so i can always return or exchange. Thanks :)

I leave in an apartment complex and a pretty stiff HOA :S .. is there another way? I'm for sure returning that now.

You mentioned using xmt360 AIO and BFWD every two weeks, i wouldnt suggest that. But if thats your thing......but you essentially be stripping, and reapplying every two weeks!

well I was wrong.. I can't return or exchange at their SD location.. I can return this stuff but please let me know what else works better for the money :)

every month then? (I'm a newbie .. member?)

If you polish out a car and get it the way you want, if you use good wash technique and a quality sealnt like BFWD, you shouldnt need to polish for a while. You can use paint cleaners to strip and reapply if you wish, how often depends on what you want to do to your ride:dblthumb2:. I usually polish once a year, something light like m205 or WGFG 3.0, I'll lay down my lsp and every 3 months strip with a paint cleaner like Blackfire GEP, WGPPE, etc..., and reapply a new product or whatever, and so on....but thats just me you can do what you wish, I was just expressing my thoughts on the amount of work you'd be doing!:xyxthumbs:

mmm. sorry i think I need to go back to reading :/
this is basically what i want to do:

compound > swirl remover/finishing polish > paint sealant > wax >quick detailer

after i get it all done i basically just want to maintain using ONR two buckets and my understanding is i would clay and re-apply the xmt360 every two washes ?

There should be no reason to clay every two weeks, maybe 3 times a year tops. But once you polish and protect the car, maybe once or twice a year. Claying isn't needed that often.

Are you speaking about xmt 360 the all in one, or the xmt 360 spray wax??? If the spray wax, yes you can apply that after every wash, but the all in one is full of cleaners and mild abrasives it will just strip what you did, you'd be eating into your clear more, when it is not needed if you polish good.

If you want to read more, pick up Mike's book, pretty much explains and shows everything in detail:props:

ok i see.. thank you.. my plan to use these products:

*paint correction w/ v34-36-38
*seal with black diamond
*wax with dodo juice blue velvet (not yet ordered) - any recommendations?

for maintaining:
(every week)
*CG v7 quick detailer as needed to get dirt from sticking
*possibly try the echosmart from CG or the pinnacle liquid crystal waterless

(every couple of weeks)
*ONR two bucket
* dodo juice blue wax

(every 4-6 months)
*light clay if needed
*reapply seal (black diamond)
*apply wax

the XMT360 i got was an all-in-one.. I did not understand well what this product did. I will be keeping it to do small jobs on some of my buddies and this will help me get more experience using the 7424XP.

I realize I don't need these and they are going back:
Water blade
Jetseal

any suggestions or comments? thanks a lot btw.

i haven't had the chance to use blue velvet yet, but I can tell you blue velvet pro is superb
with how often you plan on waxing, you'd be fine using just one wax, especially if it is a hybrid wax

why not just get a pot of blue velvet pro?

M105 and M205 the V series has not gotten the greatest reviews compared to others. BTW chemical guys deletes all of the negative reviews on their website so check autogeek for reviews because they don't need to sell just that product line.
