What was my neighbor thinking

Yesterday morning say my neighbor cleaning his 95 pearl white chev silverado truck. I noticed he wasn't washing the roof but was going over it with something in his hand. He said there were black specs all over the roof and turtle wax tar and bug remover wouldn't remove them so he had a brillo pad and was going over the roof. He said when he got through he noticed the paint was dull and didn't have any shine. Duh. What would be best to get the paint back in shape?
 
My best friend used a Brillo pad on his car to get bugs off. I had to fix for him but work out great for me. He owns a screen printing company and we trade for my work I got free t-shirts and hoodies for my business.

Why oh why would someone pay $995 (MSRP) for a special paint and then not ever bother to care for it?!? :face_palm:
 
Most non-car people don't realize what a brillo or scotch-brite pad will do to their paint.

I didnt even know pearl white was available back then. It would be even more unbelievable if it was a custom.

I was working on a pearlescent red Yukon Denali last week. This premium SUV was ragged out like regular work truck. interior had stains, smells, and looked like it was washed regularly with a scotchbrite. I was doing some body work not detailing it, thankfully.

Yeah, I take rigs like that on trade all the time! lol

It's amazing what detailers can get done too, cause that ragged out ride will end up sitting on the used lot down the highway and will be priced a full thousand or more below the well cared for example on my lot... The phrase "you get what you pay for" comes to mind!
