glaze between paint corrections

After reading this i think I am going to skip dawn.
When I went to CG I brought up Dawn, they did say "we sell a detergent like Dawn" (not exact words)

I then said, "but will Dawn works? They said yeah why not" (not exact words don't remember the exact wording)

But to be safe why not buy something from a True Detailers just to be safe?

While the use of Dawn is controversial. Using it once will not hurt the finish of your car. It will only remove all other products applied. I do not use Zaino, but I do have a lot of respect for Sal. He knows car finishes and product Chemistry. Sal recommends as the first step, before using Zaino, to wash your car the first time only with Dawn. This will insure everything bonds correctly. Even the polymers or wax in many car cleaning products could reduce the bonding of some products. When I have used Dawn I have had very good results. I rinse the car very well to be sure all the product is off. I then start fresh with my new applications.

I have Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax.

After being here so briefly and with my million questions. I have learned so much in such a short time frame.

If a car is properly taken care of (which a lot of you Detailer's do) If Dawn is used it should be used only once. Right?

Only each time you want to strip a traditional LSP from a vehicle.
This can also be accomplished with a soap specifically made for this like one of the Chemical Guys citrus washes.
Keep in mind that if you are compounding or polishing stripping with a soap is not necessary as this will remove any existing LSP.

:iagree: with :whs:

Basically, when you want to change your LSP you'd use Dawn. Doesn't matter how many times you use it, just that WHEN you use it you apply another LSP to protect the finish. Reminds me of the guys that say they always use dish washing soap to wash their cars, but NEVER wax them. Waxing would be more critical than ever if you stripped your LSP each and ever freaking time you washed!

I have already told 2 close people I know to stop using Dawn soap. I told them to go buy some Meguiar's soap at there local Auto Shop. They just washed it with Dawn and drove around like that till the next wash then Dawn soap again and only Dawn soap for months at a time.
😢🙊

How many oz of dawn per gallon? Or what is the proper way to say the ratio?
