Most bulk MF will lint. Use a waffle weave (no nap) or a silk type mf for glass. Why not?
hello all,
read through this thread and it seems i got more confusedi'm looking to buy some MFTech towels to upgrade my Microtex and Costcos. i just need towels to buff off my wax (OCW), sealant/ glaze (Klasse) and instant detailers (Mother's).
with my purpose, do i need both the Korea 460 and Plush Terry 360? or will one of these models do?
many thanks,
dino

Dino,
All of the MF Tech towels are awesome, (especially for the price). You might want to take a look at my 'mini review' of some I added a while back.
Latest microfiber additions to the Cardaddy stable.
FWIW, the Costco Kirklands, after washing are not bad towels at all and I'd suspect at least a 350~360 gsm dual nap. For that matter, I wash EVERYTHING before using it. Just makes them that much softer.
The Korean 460's are totally different than any other microfiber you're used to. They have the one with the border, and another one without, totally edgeless. I have been told it is the same material, only pre-washed, but even after I've washed them both they come out different. As much as I like the edgeless, I can't really justify the price difference. Of course ymmv.
That being said, the 360 terry while nice, is NOT in the same league as the 460 Korean. I'd suggest you look at the 600's for a killer LSP towel. Now if you want a good all around towel, then the 360's or even the 400's will get a ton of use.
But for what the 530's run (especially by the case) you can use them for rinseless washing, compound removing, heavy metal polishing (where you really need to tug on them) or anything else where you need a seriously rugged towel. I'd say the 530's are the toughest overall towel I've seen, period. Not at all like the Cobra 530's either. That is neither good or bad, just different. They can be soft enough for all but the softest paints, so with washing, compounding, even polish removal, they are workhorses.
The really thick, really plush, really soft and crazy absorbent towels are the 600's and 700's, and are extremely well priced when you look at what they compete against. (Again, I'm thinking more by the case, but even in 10 packs they are a deal.) My customers have all fallen in love with everything I've shown them from MF Tech, which makes me look forward to what's coming next.(Not that I know... but it's always good.)
Hope that helps a bit.
Yeah, that was at a microfiber seller. "the dye in darker color towels is heavier, and makes the towels feel less soft. So a black, dark red, or dark green towel will be a bit more rough than a white, light blue or yellow towel"
Agree but 2 year old thread resurrection?
Yeah, it's old, but it was a good read I never would've found if he wouldn't have brought it back.
I've been looking at trying some of the ones from The Rag Company. Definitely not a MF connoisseur so I don't know what the greats are, but I may run back to my local Advance Auto and see about those Griot's they had on sale the other day. :-
Griot's MFs are great
