January has been its usual winter self here in Pittsburgh. It's either below freezing and snowing or above freezing and raining. Saturday, it was slow at the dealership due to the temps in the teens, so I gave in and took my nasty-looking winter beater over to the detail shop for a wash. Without any of my own supplies, I rinsed out one of the house wash mitts, diluted the bucket of soap and found some clean, soft, terrycloth towels so I didn't have to use a dirty chamois. Fortunately, the two coats of Colli 476 I applied in November held up to the challenge. As I drove home in light snow, I could still see the beading as the snowflakes melted on the warm hood.
It's the first time since finding the detailing forums back in 2009 that any of the family fleet got washed with anything but ONR, DG Rinseless or Meg's wash soap, but thanks to 476, it appears no harm was done. I think it's time to pack up a bucket for my trunk with a small bit of ONR, some MF and WW towels, so I don't fall prey to the temptation again.
