Swirled out Solstice

Wait if you have been washing it....was it even dirty for him to justify washing?

No, he just ran out of stuff to do... (We have a small lot)

Frankly I'm starting to think its willful ignorance. The guy isn't stupid, he's just trying to justify his 40 a week!?!? :face_palm:

The good news is there are two (soon to be three) shining examples in my driveway, evidence that the methods and tools I have garnered here ARE effective, are NOT a "glaze over" and really DO work as advertised.

I've been working here 10 years, I can hold out six more months to further prove my point before I start insisting that we invest in some of this "new tech", like grit guards, microfibers and the like..

The boss still has that Firehawk, it'll be a good example too. But I ain't doin it for nuttin.

UPDATE!!

Didn't take but a few days in a row of pretty weather and the Solstice found itself a home.... Just thought I'd let you all know! :)

Congratulations to you for your paint-correcting the Solstice
to AutoGeekian (which is now your) standards...:props:

Congratulations to the new owner(s) for the purchasing of a fine
example of a vehicle all polished-up and ready to: Slip, slip away!

:)

Congratulations on the sale! Hopefully she is with a family that have better car washing techniques than your dealership detailed.:)

About time!!!!!!
Did ya inform the new owners proper wash technique to prevent marring and swirls or just hand them your card if they need it taken care of with a link to this thread?

No, I wasn't the salesman on that one.... But the new owners did seem particularly picky and did comment that "we've looked at several, but none were this clean."

It was a proud moment for me, even listening from the sidelines... Wonder how long the Collinite will last em?

Proud moment indeed and a compliment of your work.

So, kind of an update:

I bagged so much on our dealerships resident detail guy, but I want to take a moment to point out what he IS good at:

I'd be even more proud if there wasn't a certain 3M Imperial glaze involved....

From the above photos:
The resident-detail-guy's: processes/products/tools...does appear to be top-notch.

I'd be even more proud if there wasn't a certain 3M Imperial glaze involved....
^^^Why are you so averse to 3M IHG's "involvement"?^^^

:)

Cause it means that there are still holograms on the truck... They're just glazed over..

That's what causes guys like me to be disgusted...:(

Alas...Pictures can be so deceiving!

I use 3M IHG a lot of times...but not to cover-up holograms.

BINGO!!!

I watched the process this time (he clocked over 20 hours on this detail, from start to finish) and there's only a few things I'd do different, really... To put it another way:

He is an absolute expert at the technique, it's just that the techniques haven't been updated in quite a few years. There's no microfibers, no claying and his random orbital is the size of a carry on bag!

Truthfully he seemed to finish out great with the rotary, he just "always glazes it cause you can sometimes see lil pigtails in the sunlight"

My idea has been to get him to ask to try my DA.. I think I've got his boss convinced that the Meg's Microfiber correction system would save him some time AND would allow him to finish out swirl/ hologram free without having to glaze it..

Unfortunately I am having zero luck convincing them to consider grit guards, microfiber wash mitts, waffle weave towels or anything else that might prevent the swirls from being re-introduced... So I'm not positive that getting them onboard with the DA first is the best course of action... :(

:frustrated:
