I just finished claying my truck, I am not going to polish, there is a very minimal amount of scratches so I am not going to mess with it. (besides its getting traded in at the end of the year)

My question is do I need to wash or wipe down the truck before I wax it?
I used the megs detailing solution during claying.

Thanks

I would wash it one more time with some auto shampoo (Wolfgang) it can't hurt and it will give you some piece of mind. It's never too clean.

As long as there isn't any lubricant left over on the surface you can jump to waxing. I suggest using a cleaner wax if you aren't going to polish after claying. By nature clay is abrasive and a cleaner wax should clean up whatever marring occurred during the claying process.

ARGH! I have megs nxt tech 2.0 , and a brand new bottle of collinite 845 that I was dying to use. Don't see where either are a cleaner wax. Off to the store I go.

Thank you.

You can use any wax that doesn't have abrasives or cleans on top of the cleaner wax, but you can't layer the cleaner wax hopefully for obvious reasons because it cleans the surface.

It has been said in the past that NXT Tech Wax was indeed a cleaner wax. Although when moving to 2.0 it was a total reformulation from the ground up. It is Meguiar's position that it is a "polish wax" in that it will hide slight imperfections and such. (So will everything else in that domain.)

Check this thread over on MOL as it discusses just that.

Actually polishing it wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if you have a machine. It will help the paint survive the rest of the winter as well as a long hot summer ahead. Certainly a good idea to keep it at it's best till trade in time. :xyxthumbs: Could use any number of OTC products and whip out a fine job fairly easily and quickly. Megs Ultimate Polish comes to mind. ;)

As for the 845, YES you can, and probably should add that to the top of whatever you use! :)

Thanks for the help guys, its much appreciated.

Completed waxing with the meg's cleaner wax.
Do I need to wait a period of time before topping with the 845, or can I proceed tomorrow?

-I consider: proceeding tomorrow...
-A more than adequate: time period of waiting...

Between the initial usage of Meg's A12...
Followed by a film-layer of Collinite #845.
