My Poor car

Thats funny as hell!!!! But you're absolutly right! It wont slam you in your seat, but it has just enough power to do the trick. LOL

LOL. And to think, I really didn't think my joke was funny, lol.

I looked into getting a 2.5 5 Cyl VW Rabbit, lol. I like the GTI, but the plain Rabbit or Golf is just... plain.

I noticed that about the jetta. I cant really find anything wrong with it, but nothing really stands out either. It has leather seats with no warmers, weird.

Wow, ok that info related to Geico is making me want to jump ship to another insurer. Years ago (mid-90's) I had a car accident and was with Safeco at the time. (don't know if they're even still around) Their estimate was MORE than the body shop. I did not go to an "approved" body shop either. I went to my car dealer and asked where they had their body work done and had it towed there and that's who did the estimate (actually was a body shop for a different car dealer and was "part" of their service dept). Of course in that case I believe most of the extra cost is because the adjuster told them to cut the frame pieces off at the welds and put new ones on instead of "pulling" the frame.

From what body shop guys have told me, insurance adjusters dont know there ass froma a hole in the wall.

Thanks everyone. There was no faul play on the guys behalf. He stayed around and called the cops, he left with a tcket. Its an 05 camry with 133,000 on it, as soon as I saw it, i said "new car time!!" Wrong, geico sad 6,000 in damage's and thats 60% of what the car is worth. The adjuster said the damage has to be 75% of what the car is worth. Every site I go to online tells me its worth around 6500, geico said its worth between 10&11,000. I lke the car, but if it drive just a little different, i'm puttinf a forsale sign on it. I'll keep everyone updated.

If this was me I would make sure the insurance company pays cash for the depreciation of the value of the car since they are being a pita on totling it.... trade in resale etc are a pain after wrecked and rebuilt.... keep us posted

I feel bad for you, but maybe this will make you feel better. 7 years ago I was insured by Progressive. They are worse than Geico. These companies spend all there cash on TV commercials with little lizards and stupid acting women saying how great they are, but when it comes time to pay out, they are dirt cheap.

I got into a severe accident with an 2003 BMW Z4 in 2005. At the time they said the car was worth 31k and the damage was 18k - so they were going to fix it. I took it to the only BMW certified body shop in PA at the time - Daniel's BMW. It was supposed to take a month to fix.

To make a long story short. The accident was in April and I didn't get the car back until August. Why so long? Because Progressive would not approve an additional dollar of repairs for the car. They body shop was stuck once they pulled it apart and saw it needed more work. They kept going back and forth with the insurance.

They had to wait for an adjuster to approve every additional nut and bolt the car needed. The adjuster would have to come out and photograph it. This took weeks to get the guy out each time. Didn't anyone think that a car hit that bad may have hidden damage? Was I the FIRST PERSON EVER in the history of motoring to get into a bad accident?

It turned out it took 25k to fix it. Now, at the time I had rental insurance (Progressive) and only owned one car - the BMW. However, the renters insurance was limited to 30 days. I ended up paying over 4 THOUSAND dollars to Enterprise for my econo box rental car because Progressive would not pay more than the first 30 days, as I had no choice but to have a rental while my other car was getting fixed. But the whole reason it took so long was because they were jerking the body shop around for every nickel

After that I dumped Progressive and Flo and got State Farm. I saved a ton of money just for switching. I haven't had an accident since, but now I have an agent down the street.

I am going to say however this turns out usaa is by far the best when it comes to accidents my wife... my lovely wife has had 2 totled vehicles and both accounts they rather write a check to pay it off and give you the difference than wrap it up getting fixed... just my experiance. And im pretty sure everyone can get usaa now not just military... I pay 127 a month for full coverage on a golf r, golf tdi and an optima. Also after your with them for ten years they give an insane discount. And another insane discount if you have other family members with policys through them. Total monthly savings in my case is 110 a month...

If geico is so smart then they should buy the car off of you and fix it and then sell it for 11,000. These insurance companies crack me up. Go to a local car dealer and ask them to look up the auction report on that car. It's worth what the dealer would buy it for at the auction. If Geico would buy all the wrecked car up that they say are worth all this money they could make a profit and your rates should go down. I don't see that happening.

Funny this comes up. A friend of mine is in the body shop business for over 30-years. The last time I was at his shop he told me an insurance company totaled a leased vehicle with the intention to repair and resell it; totally against the owners wishes. He did not believe it was totalled at all. And because of this decision she needed to shell out all those lease fees and deposits AGAIN to acquire a new vehicle. Man, I would have been pissed off. I figure the lessor was involved in this decision as well.

Thats very good advise. I called the guy today, because its been a week and they said it would take 8 days. The adjuster said they need another week and the part that pissed me off was he said it was on the frame machine. Now ill never be able to sell it.

WOW!!! What a run around! Did they end up totaling it?

Well today I got my car back, and needless to say, i'm not happy. Theres more more scratches on it then before, marring, over spray, orange peel, wax residue everywhere and just over all poor work. When I picked it up, the guy said, "we detailed you're whole car" in my mind I said "F#%k me". So it looks like I have my work cut out for me!

Man, I would have refused it. The same thing happened to my Mazda3 and I specifically asked the body shop to NOT wash it. They even made a note on the window, "Do not wash, customer will do." It only went in for some corrective repairs which turned out to be nearly 3 grand worth. A previous visit to a Ferman Collision Center caused that mess. My Mazda3 was rusting anyway, and when it came back all washed and my perfect paint was swirled worse than before I corrected the paint myself, that gave me another reason to dump that bomb.

Overall, you're the customer, and if you're not happy, you're not happy. I'd tell the insurance company what you just mentioned and say you're not happy. Cars visit the body shop to get fixed, not get effed up. That's bullscheisse.

You're absolutly right. In true fashion, I took my butt outside and got rid of the over spray and some of the scratches. I just want to get rid of the car!

Sucks when someone carelessly ruins something you've maintained for so long. That's exactly how I felt...
